Greenwater Grooming and USFS 70 Plowing

Just wondering if anyone has gone to greenwater today? Are the volenteers done dozing off the road yet? Did the Forest Service Re-open the parking area? Is there a Moat around it? Thanks to the Guys that Put in there hard work to clear the road! And to NC Machinery for the Eqipment! You can Donate Money from the Sno-Jammers page to keep the groomer working the greenwater area. Come On, Put your Money were your mouth is!!http://www.snojammers.org/content.aspx?page_id=301&club_id=852035

why do we need money to keep the groomer running? it is broke more then it is working. they should have plenty of money to groom. they did not have the road cleared yesturday and on my way out they were loading a dozer

I heard that the grommer was off the trail and down a hill on Saturday
Sounds like we need to spend some money in training drivers

We're Ok On "grooming Money"

We dont have a problem with the actual grooming money, it's the plowing we are asking for donations to keep the snopark open. The groomer is out and will be back up on wendsday to groom. If any of you tried to ride out over pyramid pass, you'll see why they slid off the road, He was doing us a favor trying to break thru, the road is totaly blown in. It's the worst I can ever remember up there. It's gonna be a real chore digging the road out. good luck

How about plowing the snowbanks ONTO the road and keeping the parking down low, groom the Matterhorn since we have snow down low this year.....like it was many years ago (before the Matterhorn was built). A couple more miles of grooming but much less dangerous and no need for snow removal....just a thought. There is plenty of parking down low as shown last saturday....the rangers had it very organized.

The Problem With That

the problem with grooming the matterhorn is that there is no safe place to leave the cat, we still need to fuel it and do repairs and maintance. I think it would cost more to groom it than to plow it. Now that spring has set in, the snow will start melting on the road and we'd be riding pavement in another week or so. Remember the matterhorn goes up and than way back down. those law enforcement people dont like to be up there either. before long they will close it or start charging us to be there and "park" cars

Yep, I had made the 1st tracks across the pyramid pass side on Sat and didnt wanna keep on, keepin on because the two I was with wouldnt follow me. I had to side hill all the way to the "wind blown cave" corner. Yet it was fun to side hill all that way.

Last night we unloaded at the bottom of the Matterhorn at the closure. There is already a mile of pavement to ride on even if you use the banks where you can. It's going to be ugly there for a while.

it had alot of bare spots on sunday, but either they need to pull the snow back in on the road or get a snowblower to run through there. I would think that would be a heck of alot cheaper and faster then scooping it up and moving it. I just hope it all works out either way it goes
