Been a great season thus far up at GW. That said, we were up Saturday and I know this gets brought up every season, BUT , there were about 20-30 people in the cabin and I swear our group of four were just about the only ones not drinking a tall boy, Jager, or Beam. I am all for drinking, believe me ( time and a place). But, at 10:00 a.m. - do people need liquid courage to handle their sleds or what?

It is a matter of time before something serious happens up there. Then we'll be wishing we policed our sport a little better.

Drinking is one thing, whatever, but what bothers me more is why people can not pack their beer cans out ??? They already are starting to leave them in the cabin. Do people think their mama's come up and will clean up after them?
If I see someone do it I speak up but there were a bunch already there. The cabin literally had garbage bags full of cans by the end of the season last year. A disgrace.

There were also a couple of little kids in there and the F-bombs started flying from the parties that were drinking. Luckily someone spoke up (from their group) before we could.

I love taking a break in the cabin but frustrates me more and more every time I walk in. Let's all take some initiative to keep the cabin clean - in all respects.

Flame me if you want - that will just show who the culprits really are.

Same up at Orr this weekend. 2 garbage bags half full of cans already - along with a few cans used to smoke with were left laying around as well. I'm wanting to get my son (11 yrs) going with this sport soon but don't really want to give him the wrong impression by bringing him to these spots. The last sentence is a little sarcastic but if you think about it?????

That's too bad - just makes no sense. Even if this thread just reaches a few that think about changing their ways ever so slightly then it's worth it.

I hear ya Mike - solves part of it for you I guess. Other part is meeting a drunk head-on around a blind corner!

surprised it doesn't happen. I was up there the previous weekend and it was actually still pretty clean

Thinking about making a sign to take up and mount about the garbage. Just have to make it is such a way that it does not get de-faced. People can attest to how it was by the end of last year. Someone had taken garbage bags up there , but I think that just promoted leaving your sheet behind!

Take a few pictures next time, it might leave a better impression. Some people don't thinks its as bad as you say...:camera:

stop the madness

I know alot of us enjoy good drinking buddies. but please save it till after you're off of the trail. I hate to be a hypocrite, I'm one of those guys who used to pack beer or booze. After reading this post I'm changing my ways. I hope this gets to others as well, the last thing we need in our sport is more ammo for the ones that are trying to shut us down.

i was told your empties act as a cushion for the full ones too.no more broken sodas.

pack it out !!before they start locking it except for there club.they built it.

i'm a part of the snowmobile club (snojammers) that maintains a portion of the trail system at greenwater, and who also built the cabin.

this past month at our meeting, we discussed how people are chopping wood on the floor. this is causing the floor to crack, get nicked, and damaged. that is the original floor from when the cabin was built 20+ yrs ago. we need to protect it...cut your wood outside - please.

also, please pack out your garbage. to many club members are constantly taking trash out that isnt theirs.

please be respectfull.
