green water work party sunday morning,

Lots of snow down low, thats the problem

Sure we've had lots of snow in the past, but not this low, There is over 2' at the gas station in greenwater, they were digging off the roof this afternoon, With the lack of funds in the grooming program, None of the area's got any extra money, some were cut back to keep the grooming going. It's been a chore just keeping the road open from 410 up the 70. The snow has not let up , Anyone know what one of those big snow blower cost to run? It's huge money, I've said this a hundred times, and some of you just dont get it, As snowmobilers. we pay our own way, We get NO MONEY from the state or federal budget, ( except some gas tax money) All our plowing and grooming comes from snowmobile license fee's. Untill we get 50,000 plus snowmbiles registered, we're in trouble, or raise our license fee's which everyone is scared to do, or get more money out of the state gas tax budget which you can imagine how that sounds in Olympia. Not making excuses but we just dont have the money and olympia is not going to kick in. Thats the plain hard cold facts. You have to look at this program as a whole, it includes all areas from Okanogan, the blue mts, spokane, mt st helens, mt baker, ect ect. Would a bigger plow help in the greenwater area? Maybe , I dont know , It's 10 miles in to the snowpark with a monster hill in between, just my 2 cents worth

He made the offer!

Why would they not take Staffordirt offer of plowing the road? He is not asking for anything. I ride up there and would at least offer him and his crew the biggest steak dinner we could find. Gravelers right, i dont care about the gooming it gets chopped up fast but would be great to drive up to the new snow park they spent money putting in. Jet Johnson sounds like all you have to do is ask him.

In my opinion

It's just the first of January, we have 3 more months of snow, I'm not sure it's worth spending the money and effort so soon. We could get it plowed, and it might dump another 3 to 5' and we're right back to the same problem. The problem with greenwater is that with the gaurdrails, without a snow blower there is nowhere to push the snow. It just keeps getting narrower. AND, Right now we have another problem, the Forest service thinks it's dangerous up there with all the falling trees, they are sending up a "specialist" to see if it's even safe to let the public up there. I do know that while we were up there all day cutting trees, on the way out a big tree came down and we had to cut our way out. I'm telling you , it's a little spooky up there right now. I've ridden greenwater for well over 20 years and never seen the tree devistation like this past 4 or 5 days.

Last year I contacted Brian w/ snowjammers, and we worked with the FS and they were very appreciative of it, If for some reason you think I was the first group that attempted to plow the road and thrashed all the guard rails, well thats not right. We are the ones that finished it.

Hey I am offering, I am well aware of the road conditions, how long the road is etc, I am not asking for anything in return.

But if this is going to cause a big problem, well I wont force it upon anyone.

If you all are ok riding from below the matterhorn and it stays groomed, well then we will let it be!

They plow 20 miles into the orr creek snow park out of randle. We road out of there saturday. 3.5 hrs to go 15 miles. We cut trees and chained up 4 wheel drive trucks to get in there. About 20 trucks behind us and every body makes it up for a great day in great powder snow. At the end of the day here comes the contract plowers up the hill. Great timing. You have a man offering to plow a freeway up to the snow park and your afraid its going to snow. Its winter it snows. No more excuses. And after hes done maybe that little 2 wheel dump truck(plow truck) can keep up. You dont want to miss your steak dinner at jacks do ya?

Greenwater 70 road

It sure would be nice if there was a frikin sign that said snow park road closed at Enumclaw rather than following 2 dozen ski rigs going 35 MPH to the turn off passed greenwater. I need to talk to Klem in Enumclaw and see if we can get such a sign put up and someone to operate it.

All of this sounds too dangerous to go ridin.

Everyone should just ride stampede or Gold Creek.

:(
:o
;)

This was my biggest problem and why I was going to call the FS today. They could have utilized the orange construction sign that was even sitting there and had it say FR70 closed - they would have done it for the skiers.

Instead , everyone traveled up on snow-packed icey roads , with skiers always trying to pass everyone , only to turn around. Lucky there were no major accidents. My buddy had a guy go in the ditch behind him near 70 as the guy was not paying attention to slow down where everyone was turning around.

I for one would have no problem paying more for the tabs IF I knew it was going to go to grooming / plowing - the problem would be is that it most likely would not - would end up somewhere else.

Road closed sign

We did talk to Mary at the forest service about not having a sign back in Enumclaw. she was going to look into it. I believe thats the DOT sign and not sure they would let the forest service use it. Also, It's not my call to plow the road up to the snow park, Hey I'm all for it. I'd love to use the donated help to get the road back open. I just ride there and help out anychance I can. I dont *****, I dont complain, I just go up and help out when ever I get the call. We tried to go to greenwater 2 days in a row and did not know the 70 road was closed either. Ended up going to the easton reload, good ride, tons of snow.

Funny - I just hung up with the FS in Enumclaw. They tried telling me there was a sign up Saturday. She's mistaken , if there was , it wasn't up at 8:00 in the morning. I wasn't going to go back and fourth with her - she said the sign is up now.

plus with the groomer broke down, instead of grooming everyday of the week so they can make there money they should use it for the plowing

I think there is a meeting tonite at Clems, I am waiting for a confirmation from Dan about this... I hope I see some people show up so we can voice some ideas about what to do next, instead of complaining about why this is wrong or that is wrong..... We have enough tough guys on snowest keyboards already.... Get involved not just from buying your tabs for your sleds.

We can make a change for this sport believe it or not, just need a little more volunteering support..

Not bashing anyone here just stating the obvious

Rob, amen to that!!!

Thats for sure, very few people want to join in and help, Most readers just dont know the system, they start bashing and beating up on everyone involved. We all like to ride, but every now and than we have to put in some work to keep things running,

"...there is a grooming meeting tonight at 7:00pm and everyone is welcomed to attend.

As always it is held at Clem’s shop in Enumclaw at 408 Roosevelt Ave, which is also known as Enumclaw Suzuki, Polaris, Yamaha.
"
