To all who might be able to help, got a call today from R&R, As most of you know by now the 70 road has been closed for a few days. We are putting together a work party for sunday morning, be there about 9 or so. The 70 road is still blocked by a zillion trees, need chain saws and manual labor to move them, Anyone who might be able to come up and help, bring it on. NO sleds, trailers ect. Trucks, Jeeps, ect ok, , Just a road work party to get the road back open. I believe the Forest Service will still have the road closed, Tell them you are with the Hi-country snowmobile club and R&R to help out. Hey, I'd like to ride tomorrow but I think getting the road open is more important right now. We are also running out of funds to plow so anything we can do to help save money will help in the long run, any questions, PM or email jetjohnso@aol.com

That is a good Idea,

We were up there thurs morning, cut trees in front of the plow for a couple of hours. There is still quite a bit of work to do. Mostly chainsaw and labor to remove trees from roadway. Spent the night at WJL came back over friday and cut more just to get back to the truck. Used 2 tanks of gas in the saw to get to and from Whistling jacks.

Must say I was dissapointed in fellow snowmobiliers on thurs morning, everyone sat in their trucks or stood around complaining while 3 of us lent a hand to the plow driver to try and clear the road so we could all get turned around and go sledding.

I would come tomarrow if I was available.

Let me know if not complete tomarrow, I will donate some of my heavy equipment and labor to clear the road so it can reopen.

Last year I brought up a couple wheel loaders and with the help of a buddie spent two full days clearing the road so the fs would reopen the road.

I am willing to help, but not be taken advantage of.

Sunday morning work party

Dan, sounds like Ron could really use some help! We will see you first thing in the morning---:)

Me too. Would have been happy to donate some sweat for a great ride.

Just out of curiosity, doesn't the military require access to this area. Seen them up their doing training several times training for the weekend. Talk about working hard. These guys were hauling 70+lbs on their back, through the snow. Supper nice guys. They were admiring our sleds, and we their night vision.
Not that we shouldn't pitch in, but if the military requires access, then how can they not plow the roads?

got a lot done today,

Well I can tell you all, Ron from R&R and a few of his guys have been working the butts off to get the 70 back open, I couldnt believe all the snow and how many trees they had cut just to get the first few miles. We cut a lot more trees and scrubb down today. It's really weird up there thats for sure. We did get up to the upper snow park with just our trucks but it's way to narrow for trailer ect. They plan on running the groomer down to the turn around, that should work fine. The forest service thinks they will keep the road closed for a few more days, they are worried about more trees coming down and hurting someone. I think we've lost the upper snowpark for the season. Way to much snow to plow. Ron and the forest service are moving the snowpark down to where the road makes it's turn up the matterhorn. They have plowed out a good turn around right there at the right hand turn. Than we will just park on the side of the road for a mile or two, not much else they can do, Thought we'd get more help today, but it went well with short notice.

maybe hire the state to blow the road, that makes an extra 7 miles of road riding just to get to the upper lot, which the state paid to improve, so if I have this right you have to ride over 15 miles just to get to any riding, sounds like the pemberton Ice fields!!!LOL

if we are going to run out of plowing funds that is the best thing to do, if it goes to the gravel pit make sure they move that rock that is in the middle. it is hard on the trucks

Someone has to educate me I guess. We had a really late start to the season this year , meaning what we started sledding up there maybe a month ago? How in the world are they already running out of money to plow the road? Are they almost out of money for grooming , even though they have only actually groomed a handful of times if that ?

Again , not trying to be a wise-arse , but help me understand. If the sno-park is going to remain that low the rest of the season - it will be s fuster-cluck with all of the people that ride that area anymore.

I think the groomers meeting is tuesday, probably a good time to go to get info

its not tuff to figure out that greenwater has some issues with the plow and grooming, it doesn't get done right, I can live without the grooming but I would like to at least make it to the snopark, it did not seem to be an issue in years past! you could drive a chained up motor home with a 24ft trailer before and now you cant!!! they could use a three axle dump like the state plows with and not a 5 yd dump truck!!! you need the power and the weight to really throw the snow off the road!!!! I have seen the state plow gold creek why not greenwater????

I cant belivue what I am reading, are you that stupid to think that we have had that much snow in the past, and do you think that comparing goldcreek to greenwaters 12% grade is the same. good thing that you can play on this computur and are not living in the real word. good god get a life they are trying to keep the snow off the road. but then again you know all about it. :(

WTF?

one of my questions is why does the state help at gold creek and most of I-90 snowparks with the snowblower and not at green water?? and it has never snowed this much ever right, two years in a row, you need to check your snotel history!!!! although anything is possible living in the computer world of Fantasy!!!!

Sounds like we found either the plow truck driver or the groomer driver... LMFAO!! This is a priceless post!

Uuummm.............. were you here last year when it was single lane all the way in from the same amount of snow basically ?

JetJohnson-

I did it last year and am willing to do it again...... I am offering my time and machinery to get the snow off the 70 to the snow park.....

If this is something that would benifit us all I will make it happen... looks like we might get some warmer weather end of week.

If you think it is fine where you moved it too, I wont worry about it.
