Great day of riding... Bad way to end the day...

So we headed up yesterday and it was raining at the parking lot but when we got up in the high elevations it was snowing and coming down hard. We played in about 24" to 30" of snow all day and had it ll to ourselves. Great day. Epic powder, and nobody else in sight. It was so deep I got stuck twice in the flats. I would have posted some video but my helmet cam didn't work. When I plugged it into the computer i got a bunch of errors. Really ticked me off. It would have been so cool. And that toped off a bad trip home......

The trip home started going bad before we ever got back the the truck. We were playing around and decided to head back to the truck. We went to one last meadow and I could feel my sled dropping rpms again. I knew exactly what it was. My clutch rollers are going bad. Just had them fixed less than 200 miles ago. (Friggin Skidoo parts:mad:) So we decide to head back to the truck, and my friend get stuck one last time. I help him out and go to start my sled when i feel and hear my pull cord start clicking. I say a few choice words and finally got my sled to start. So back to the truck we go where it is freaking raining still so now we are soaked again. Get down to Kamas and decide to run over to Wellers to get new clutch parts and guess what they are closed. Its 4:00 and they close at 3 on Saturdays. What a Bummer :( So heading back to Salt Lake and we were just about to get off I-215 at Highland drive when I feel a jerk and look in my mirror to see my trailer tire bouncing down the road. It hit a car and went rolling out of sight down the freeway. Long story short we get new bolts and bolt on my spare. Finally make it home and go to start my sled to take it off the trailer when my pull cord gets stuck all the way out and wont go back in.

So after a great day of riding my clutch goes bad, my pull rope breaks, my trailer tire falls off hitting a car, busted my tail lights, oh and my friend dropped the trailer when hooking it back up to the truck and broke my jack handle, and my helmet camera didn't work. I decided it was time to go to bed before I broke anything else. Went to bed at 9:00 LOL.

Oh yeah when my friend off loaded his sled he got almost in the garage when his sled track just stops. Engine still running, clutch still spins but the track just wont turn. LOL

What a day.

my brain hurts from reading that! ouch!

If you need me to pick up some Doo parts for you I'll be there at Wellers in the am and then down to SLC at some point late in the day. happy to help.

Man, you need some luck. Surprised you didn't roll over and fall outta bed last night. what a day!

Don't mean to make a bad day worse but you didn't have it all to yourself, we where up there too:p Yeah I had to convince my wife that unloading in the rain would be worth it....and oh how sweat it was, snotel said 8" new but we found a good 30" of new like you guys, hope you get your stuff back in proper operating order. Sledding in the rain:o....wettest day EVER:face-icon-small-sho!! but pow was awesome up high!

clutch maintenance is the only way to make a TRA work correctly, not eat rollers, hold rpms....ive had a few revs, one RT, and one XP....i know all the horror stories of folks who dont take care of this POS clutch. not sayin you did not.....but a typical TRA needs a complete cleaning every 5 rides IMO, and blow out the funk with shop air after every ride. This is the only primary on a sled that is totally closed up....its the dumbest primary on the planet. You will often have to remove maeterial from the rollers

and the stock 07 TRA 7 rollers are the worst

Were you in a white dodge? I saw what looked like a police escorting a white dodge of the I-215 at 2000 East with no passenger side trailer tire/wheel!

Yep that was me.:) It was funny cause The cop pulled up to me after I was trying to get off the off ramp and into a parking lot where I could unload and go get some bolts. He said to me and I quote "you do know you are missing a tire on your trailer don't you." I thought to myself what a freaking idiot, don't you see my flashers and I am going only 5 miles an hour. But I was nice and just said yes I do I just need to get to a parking lot and off the road. I was able to recover the tire and wheel though. I got back on the freeway after unloading and there it was on the right side shoulder just after the on ramp ended. Too bad the rim is thrashed though.

Yeah what we wont do to keep riding. Thanks for the offer on the parts, but I am going back to Alpine tomorrow to see what they will do for me. I had them fix it only about two weeks ago. Its funny because I never had a problem with the 04 clutch rollers but now since they put on the 07, 08, and now 09 rollers for the last 2 seasons I can't get even 300 miles on them.

The 09 rollers are just as bad. At least they were only $25 instead of the $50 for the last ones.

Wow Chad that sucks the big one.
On a positive note: maybe you burned up a years worth of bad luck in one day. LOL
All will be good now.:face-icon-small-ton

Hey Yamadoo, Have you ever seen the show Money Pit? That scene when the bath tub falls through the floor, and Tom Hanks busts up laughing; I'll bet that's how you felt.

Now you're going to have to watch that movie, just to see that scene...

Lets hope i got all the bad luck done for the year. Now that it is snowing again maybe I will just have good luck now. :) I was so mad about the helmet cam cause we would have had some sweet freaking footage for the movie this year.

Yeah I'll have to watch that movie now. When I took a shower that night my wife made the comment that she hopes I don't fall through the floor to the basement while taking a shower. LOL :D She also said that maybe I should sleep on the couch so I don't break the bed. I think she said that because she knows how much money I am going to have to spend that wasn't in the budget for this month. Oh Well. Thats why i go to work i guess.

hector i should feel bad but that kinda makes me laugh:D j/k buddy how was the riding

$67 bucks for one roller. I sure hope they last longer than the stock ones. After I talk to Alpine tomorrow I'll have to look into getting these.

That is the price for three rollers, I was trying to remember, it was Fett brothers that sales the good rollers at a cheaper price....lessons learned...these are the rollers you want, its like trying to tell my dad that until he buys a skidoo brand belt he will be replacing his belt every 250 miles instead of 2000 miles, good luck:cool:.

Well if its for three rollers that's a much better deal. It just said qty 1 when I added it to the cart so I assumed it was for 1 roller. Thanks for the clarification.

Well my story just got better. I took my sled in to get fixed Monday, my trailer is now getting fixed, but now my check engine light came on in my truck and it is in the shop now as well. So now all three items I need to go ride are spread thoughout the valley getting fixed. Boy this is going to be an expensive week. :face-icon-small-con
Oh and I sent off my camera to get fixed as well. At least that one is under warranty. :)
