Grease - jack shaft bearing behind secondary?

Is there a technique for getting grease in the bearing behind the secondary, or is it a disposable bearing now? If so, what is the life expectancy of this bearing?

My '09 RMK doesn't have anything for greasing this bearing, no hole for a zerk or anything. It had almost 5K on it when I replaced all of the drive/jack shaft bearings this summer.

WHERE'S THE GREASE FITTING

You have 2 choices,

1) Gently pry out the seal, and pack some grease, and re-install the "old seal"

2) Purchase the "old style" outer bearing flange (from an EDGE or other) and purchase the bearing with the "pin-hole" in the outer race.

POLARIS PART # 3514525

There's a "kit" out there sold by "ALL BALLS" It includes 2 bearings (one radiused bearing for the secondary side, and one "square edge bearing for the chaincase)and seal (enough to do one shaft)

The newer 07 and newer IQ's do NOT have a grease-able secondary shaft bearing.

However, they do have a sticker on the side of the air box directing you to grease it every 1000 miles, lol

So the bearing should be good for a couple thousand miles before it needs attention? I'm used to pumping that thing full (on my Edges and older) in the spring, fall and during the season if the clutch comes off.

I have 3 2008 sleds, an 800 dragon and two 600 RMK's. All three have the grease fitting on the bearing housing.

Perhaps on the driveshaft, but NOT (from the factory) on the jackshaft behind the secondary

You never can tell, but I change them out at 3000 miles+/- BEFORE the start of the season.

Actually you can tell pretty good, by a close visual inspection using a pry bar to check amount of travel in bearing. A relube bearing like what is used here only needs about 1 pump of grease every couple of hundred miles. For a lot of riders about once a season.

It is very easy to grease these bearings. I do it on new bearings as well. Pick takes the seal out and some belray waterproof grease keeps the gremlins away. Good idea in my opinion.

Can any one take pics of this process?

That was the point of the whole thread. On the newer IQ chassis sleds the upper bearing (Jack Shaft) runs a non-grease-able bearing. I was inquiring if it was important to do something to it, or simply replace it after a while. On my Edges and older sleds they have provisions to get grease pushed into that bearing either by a zerk or a pin-hole for a grease needle tip.
