GRASS FIRE: Almost lost my trailer and sleds.

My trailer has class 5 gravel under and all around it and is 20' from my shop.
The sleds sleep in the shop/man cave. Crank up the Bose and have a beer. 12 months a year.:face-icon-small-hap:pizza:
We have millions of trees and I have no neighbors within 2000 feet so we constantly keep and eye on the weather, fire conditions, etc.

We got LUCKY.
there is no other way to look at it.
If my Next Door Neighbor hadn't come into the house and gone downstairs and rousted us out of the TV room, it would have BURNED DOWN.
dont you normally LOCK your doors.?

You and your family are very lucky.

After being a volunteer firefighter for almost 10 years there are 5 things that I have realized.

1. You look at everything differently.

2. People do really stupid crap.

3. There are some amazing people in the world. (Like your neighbor)

4. Emergency responders (fire, ems and police) dedicate a good portion of their lives to people they have never even met.

5. 3 and 4 are way under appreciated.

Yup.
Was expecting our daughter to walk in at any moment.
As a result of this I have installed a new Video Doorbell on our house that is live linked directly to everyone's phones. Now if someone approaches the house ALL the phones go off and we can SEE and HEAR the person at the front door immediately!

Agreed.
I now have a 200ft 3/4" hose on my adjoining property and 2 20lb Fire Extinguishers at the ready.

Should it happen again, which is always a real possibility, I am MUCH better prepared to FIGHT THE FIRE.

They must have been young and unlived. Or possibly medicated to be the modern definition of "Normal"?

Not jaded, cantankerous, judgmental old farts like the rest of us.

how long have you lived in Valdez?
