Granite/Ukiah/Starkey area

I will be snowmobiling into a remote cabin located 15 miles north of Granite and was wondering the best way in there. We will be pulling a sled of provisions, so the closer/smoother route the better. I will be trailering from Eugene. Based on weather, I can either trailer up I-84 from Pendleton, or 126 from John Day. I'm asking for opinions.

If I take I-84, I'm wondering how far the state plows Forest Rd 51 South from Starkey. That might be my best choice, travel to La Grande, then Starkey and South on 51 toward the Vey Ranch. Anyone familiar with this area? Do they plow all the way to Vey Ranch? Can I leave a rig there?

Only been there in the summer on motorcycles, but I'd look at launching from the Anthony Lakes area?????

Being from the surrounding area my 2cents are Anthony Lakes, Ladd Canyon, Granite right now any of the roads will be bad shape. The closest one I think would be anthony lakes. I dont think they plow all the way to Vey ranch. Good Luck
