Grand County

He rode in on that trail? Insane. That's one hell of a long trail run. I've been on that road on an ATV during hunting season.

Took him about 10-15 min...nothing too special. He's got a place on Ute, so he's done it many times. I think the sled might go a little faster on that road than the ATV! Maybe he started somewhere other than where you're thinking? Not sure.

Either way, kinda cool to be able to ride with people from Scummit easily without having to deal with 70. I usually never ride with buddies from over there on sundays cause I won't go that way after sat. CP isn't the greatest place, but it's kind of a mini RE, rolling hills... tree riding. Like RE without the back of the ears I'd say. Nice & flat & boring, just like most of you guys seem to like!:face-icon-small-ton

Just looked at the map, it's about the exact same drive from both sides.

which side of Ute? The West (Hwy 9 side) or the East (Mill side) Just wondering if I know him also. I know most of the folks that live on the Eastern side, most work up here, at the Mill.

yep, not worth it at all... I wouldn't bother:face-icon-small-sho :face-icon-small-win

There's stumps for sure, but you can find sections where they are not, and you can find some places that are well blown in with snow.

I was pretty close to checking things out for myself Monday after your enticing pictures, but I convinced myself ignorance in bliss. What I don't go ride now can't break or bend my A-arms. Plus it was COLD. I am getting pumped about riding by vagabond ranch, things are looking nice up on the back side of gravel mountain. B4L why aren't you up there jumping the cornices on Gravel Mountian? They should be getting pretty big by now.

He came in from ute pass rd, co rd 32 to be specific I think.
His family has a cabin somewhere over there.

Don't get me wrong, there ARE landmines... but I've done 4 or 5 downhill runs through this area, making turns the whole time, and I just avoid the stumps.

Climbing though... skis are off the ground anyhow if I need them to be... nothin to worry about. We cranked the 2012 through here many times on sunday... had a blast.

Soooooo, what's the verdict on Church Park? I'm fine with mostly trail since this is more for the wifey's benefit. She has a tendency to forget how much fun she has riding during the summer so I was hoping for an early season reminder ride. Same thing happens with the boat:fish2:

Is there anything worth a crap in Winter park?

Absolutely.

Church park, Corona, both are doable for a road ride with some offshoots into some pow here & there. If you don't have real high expectations, you'll have a good time. It's not wolf creek, but you can still have fun!

We're hitting Corona on sat to check it out, then CP on Sunday.

From Summit, just go over Ute Pass down into the valley and just a mile or two past the mill there is the trail head that connects to Church Park. On Sunday found good snow up on Keiser Ridge and was able to play off trail.
