Snow level down to 3,000ft this morning here in Wa. today,passes are all white, they say 1-2 feet above 5,000ft by evening.

I went riding out of Afton, WY yesterday. I was amazed at the amount of snow still up in the high country. Had a great day!

I don't believe they were open till July last year.

You my be thinking "open" in the wrong sense of the word. They had one lift running extremely late, we were driving on dirt roads over most of the mountain yet they still had one lift going and people skiing. I don't remember exactly when it was they finally shut down, but it was damned late.


edit: Thinking back on it, one of the lifts was only shut down for a week or so between winter and summer operations. But, as I mentioned above, its just if I recall correctly. The summers seem to blend together after all the years of working on em.

I do know one thing for certain, this is the first year in -many- that we are still riding snowmobiles around on the ski areas to work on the lifts.

They still have over 50" of snow around north french creek and sand lake at the snowies.

..SIGNIFICANT SPRING SNOW EXPECTED AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS ON
FRIDAY...

About 10 inches of new snow has fallen on Thursday night and
Friday morning at higher elevations in the Cascades. Another 5-10
inches seems likely at higher elevations on Friday and Friday
night especially in the central and south Cascades.

Slightly improved weather should be seen over the weekend.
Daytime sun breaks are possible and there will be solar effects
on the new snow. This should make snow avalanches probable on
some slopes at higher elevations. This may be most likely on
steep slopes facing the sun but should be probable on other steep
slopes as well.

Fatal avalanche accidents have occurred during past springs in
the Northwest from people getting caught in wet snow avalanches.
Sometimes victims are carried into terrain traps such as trees,
gullies or crevasses. Remember to be aware of both the terrain
above and below intended routes in the backcountry.

Backcountry travelers should be aware that elevation and
geographic distinctions are approximate and that a transition
zone between dangers exists. Remember there are avalanche safe
areas in the mountains during all levels of avalanche danger.

information.

i realize it wasn't your point...poor selection of words on my part.

the libs are very powerful and are starting to convince the masses; again through the use of very clever marketing and messaging. very similar to how they have been able to divide users of public land.

they roll everything into being "green" if you are not green, by their definition, then you are horribly irresponsible. then they get celebrities (who rarely have an unique thought of their own) to promote their cause. i saw a report the other day that julia roberts was on some oprah like show touting the environment and being green...people did some searching and it turned out she almost exclusively flys on her private jet. i heard on the radio today that paul mccartney had to have a lexus hybrid suv, so he bought one in CA and had it delivered via private air service to london...very environmentally conscious of these folks.

First, not my point. There point. I have been argueing the global warming farse since it was first put forward.

As for the experts and the term change climate change.
It will be interesting to see how much longer they will be able to push their agenda. Even super libs won't be able to push their agenda after a couple years of global cooling. The only problem will be how much damage do they do to our economy in the process.

The libs, led by Nancy Palosi are currently pushing a 1.2 trillion dollar tax on companies that polute more than "they" deem appropriate. All in the name of controling climate change.

Very true.
however, the majority of the US population isn't stupid. they are easily manipulated by the press, but even that can only go so far.

The libs have about 2 more years to really push their agenda before it becomes so apparent they are wrong even the press will turn on them (they like ratings too much not to). Over the next year or so you will see more and more libs trying to distance themselves from the whole global warming/climate change. it won't start till after the election since they can still make hay out of it, but after that they will start doing damage control.

Nope not going to happen. They still believe it the statement " Who are you going to believe, Me or your own lying eyes?" The media will tell you what to believe and if they repeat it ofter enough alot of people will. The dems have been talking down the economy for the past 7 years and I think have caused alot of these problems so now they can say "see I told you so". People bought into it when the stock market was at record highs and unemployement was at 30 year lows. And it will continue solely to gain and keep power. Unfortunately it will also now happen on both sides because it has proven to work. The only question is will we the people become cattle or when will the next civil war be? It doesn't need to be the north against the south but it needs to be the states against DC. If it doesn't happen we will be the next failed experiment in socialism.
