Get a load of the forcast for the snowies for tonight and tomorrow.

Tonight: Rain showers before midnight, then snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 30. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Thursday: Snow showers, mixing with rain after noon. Some thunder is also possible. High near 39. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

That is on top of the 50" of snow they still have.
Gonna be riding this weekend.

Reads good to me.

Enjoy the ride. Hone those skills and carve GORE SUX into the snow.

Snow accumulations tonight in the Utah mountains also. We'll have a head start next year if this keeps up.

Is this Global warming or is this what it used to be like?

Actually I was being a smart azz.
I grew up in saratoga Wyoming and remember having snow ball fights on the fourth of july.
This is pretty close to what is normal. At least to me.
The last 6-7 years have been garbage, but it is supposed to cool back off and return to a more seasonal norm.

According to a link I saw posted on this forum scientists working for the federal government claim that we are in the first year of an 18 year cool down period but you probably will not hear this mentioned by the news media because it does not fit their agenda.

Don't worry. The global warming folks have already made the pre-emtive strike.
I posted a link a few days ago that showed the global warming folks are already admitting there will be a cooling period, but don't worry, the evil scurge of mankind will warm things right back up if we don't do what they tell us to do.

The big question no one is asking is a simple one.
If the global warming gases are only getting worse and it is all mans fault.
How is it the earth is cooling off??
Would the global warming gasses that are building up continue to warm the earth??
no one is going to ask that question though. It would blow HUGE holes in the global warming crowds arguement.

Come on Ollie: yha just gotta have faith in man's eternal desire to destroy. If it's happen'n and you can put a negative spin on it, it's man's fault. :)

Your right though, if the earth is cooling, greenhouse gases are rising, and humans are the major contributer to global warming. What other force of nature could possible cause the earth to cool. Humm, that big bright ball of fusing gas is hot. I wonder if 17,400,000 Billion Watts of continuous energy the earth receives from the sun, might be a cause of some heating?

If you'd just give all your money to the third world, live a vow of democratic values and government welfare, and give your sole to Al Gore, I'm sure your sacrifice will save humanity.

that is why the "experts" and politicians are starting to use the term "climate change". the earth is a billion years old, give or take a few billion depending on who you listen to, and we have been accurately measuring temps for at best 150 years. considering the age of the earth temperature cycles could last a million years.

your point about this all being mans fault...what an egotistical viewpoint that man has so much control or impact on these things.

enjoy the snow

I was searching for hurricane info awhile back and ran onto a bunch of reports on the "Regular ongoing 35 year temperture cycles of the oceans". Based on these studies they have seen a 35 year heating and cooling cycle of the surface temps on the worlds oceans that in turn produce the same climatic cycles in weather and world temps. The peak was in 2005 and is now on a downturn for the next 17/18 years. Sooooo...good news on the future snow front for the foreseeable future. I know the last few years sure was better in the Mtn. West.

First, not my point. There point. I have been argueing the global warming farse since it was first put forward.

As for the experts and the term change climate change.
It will be interesting to see how much longer they will be able to push their agenda. Even super libs won't be able to push their agenda after a couple years of global cooling. The only problem will be how much damage do they do to our economy in the process.

The libs, led by Nancy Palosi are currently pushing a 1.2 trillion dollar tax on companies that polute more than "they" deem appropriate. All in the name of controling climate change.

Woke up yeaterday morning, looked around outside, and on top of Elko mountain was white! I couldnt believe it! I'm guessing anything above 6K feet got atleast 2" of snow.

So I woke up this morning, looked around outside and the Ruby mountains are pure white all the way to the base! I friggen can't believe it! Prolly 8-10" new above 7500 ft! I'm goin riding!

P.S Anyone in the Elko SC area wanna pick me up and go riding. Can't drive yet. Daaaaaamn

If I remember correctly, they were still open until July last year. We were on the mountain for work in early July and they were either closing that weekend or had just closed.

I don't believe they were open till July last year. The snow was mostly gone in June. Last year SUCKED!!!!! I did some snowmobile guiding up there last year and we were done at the end of march with the snowmobiling. Skiing may have stayed open through April but I doubt it was open in June. I have never seen a worse year than last year. Maybe 2 and 3 years ago. Those were normal to above average years as well. Last year they have to stop making snow because they had used up their allotment of water by January.

As you can see by the graphs 2007 and 2008. There is a big difference. Snow was gone by this time last year and this year it is still above the entire year last year.
