Got words of encouragement for the groomers at Stampede...

TO MANY EXPERTS !!!!! Someone can always tell you how to do it, they just can't do it. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, comparing Wash to WY come on....

When you ride washboard --you call it what it is!!

As for the biggest difference between the 2 states grooming--starts with the equipment they use--that was the point being made there. You can not get quality grooming with ski slope groomers---untill you are way experianced with that equipment to even get it close.

We are just calling the grooming what it was that trip--Poor.

Sorry if the truth hurt you---Move on and we will as well. Maybe next week it will be better.

Maybe you should think before you compare the two states. Did you know that the groomers they use here are way more expensive to operate and purchase then WY. Alot of expert talk from someone that hasnt even ridden shotgun in a groomer for 1hr let alone 10-12 that it takes to groom the trails.

Did you ever think that the grooming didn't last because of the amount of snow that fell and its moisture content. Then combine it with the warming trend and it adds up to alot of work for the groomer. To do it right would have required 3 passes on each trail and then some decent set time for the snow. But I don't really want my $ wasted on 3 passes this week. Make the $ last.

We do enjoy a weather influenced hobby. Grooming is the same thing. They only get paid for the hrs they work. they have alot of money invested in equipment and fuel no one thought about them when it didnt snow.

Why dont you quit your job and be the greatest groomer?

Loser, loser, loser...!! Bingo, you just don't get it. No one complained that it didn't 'last'. I just said what he did sucked. It did actually get better after more snow fell.... duh.

Why is that so damn hard to accept? Oh wait, everything you've ever been involved in was perfect and no one ever critiqued it..shame on the rest of the world.

And H20SKE can compare 40 different states and their grooming if he wants...and rightfully so. What, you think flat is defined differently dependent on where your at?

I kinda like this thread. You guys are all sitting in front of your computers complaining about the groomed trails while I am out rippin it up. Personally I don't care how good a job the groomer does. I am never on the road. It's all fire breaks and boondockin through the trees for me. So, that being said..... I suggest you hitch up the trailor, put some fuel in er and ride... Cause thats where I will be.

As you do not know me apparently or my experiance's--I spent the better part of the day/night riding with a groomer--more than once too--So there is strike one of you talking out your a$$.
Because you spend more on your equipment does not mean it will do the job better--strike two.

As for quiting my job and being the Greatest Groomer---The offer has never come my way---How about you???

A couple of opinions have been stated--that is all---so do as stated below

Slow down and breath deep ---Life will continue and we all will make it through these tuff times--LOL

well some of us have to take their kids and their wife and the bich about how bad the trails are. Its a money thing they get more money they can do more work. charge more !!!!!!!!!!!!!! or sell trail permits or sell snow park permits and dont give them away with the tabs.

If you are out riping it up who posted this???:)

I agree Paul, I want you to quit your job and be the best groomer you can be.... which means I'll call you the night before and tell you where I'm going so you can get out there ahead of me. This is the best idea of all of 2008.

Grooming has resumed at crystal springs / stampede

Here we go again, not sticking up for any of the grooming programs but the grommer blew a hose on friday night, did not get a lot done, tried to get to Williams Oil Filter supply repair center in tacoma but they closed the pass saturday morning, by the time they got over to this side they had closed. Got it repaired on monday. If all goes well they will be caught up by friday or saturday. It's a tough area to groom, lots of snow, big snow drifts, poor visibility when you get up high. Lets give them some encouragement, There are not a lot of people that would get into this business, No money in it. very expensive equipment, constant break downs, ect ect. talk about a thankless job, this is one of the worst.

Grooming is the #1 reason I rarely go to Stampede anymore. Its a great place to take the family for weekend camping and riding, but after last seasons 6 or so weekend trips where the roads were whooped out with not even a glimpse of a groomer all weekend, I gave up. The wife and kids hated it. Equipment breaks down, I get that. But its not possible every weekend we chose to go there was a coincidence with their breakdowns. I could go only 30 minutes east to Salmon La Sac and the roads were laser smooth. EVERY time. And, for the most part, that's what we choose to do now.

My riding buddies all concur about Stampede as well. It just plain stinks. We decided to give it a try last Sunday. Same old BS.

And yes, I feel bad about flaming at the outfit that does it, but c'mon, you don't get this many people complaining about the same thing if nothings wrong. If they're just having constant bad luck I hope it gets better - its a fun place to ride.

That would be a REAL job though--LOL

Lets see if it is the best idea of 2009 though!! Lets vote on it

Maybe get him a foour track groomer so he can get er done--we will have to assign which days we are riding where so he will groom just for us.

I don't know if any groomer drivers read this thread, but I'd like to say thanks for their efforts.

If I could, I think I would probibly like driving a groomer on a volunteer rotation, but right now, it's not an option. Maybe someday.

Until then, I would totally support a usage fee for snowparks and groomer costs. BUT--- every cent better go for just that! none of this 'general fund' crap.

thanks
