IMHO if I was buying a $19K boat I wouldn't hand over any cash without riding in it first if it was a private seller. I'd say you are not obligated to do anything.

went down precisely like that.. one thing i didnt mention is: he came to inspect the boat and obvilously approved of what he was buying. we hooked the boat to his BMW X5followed him to the bank where he was to pay the $19277.. i sit in the parking lot for him to come out. he hands me a cashiers check for 10k and an envelope and says "we counted it 3 times" and walks away to the boat which was probably 50 feet away.. i sit in my truck and count what was supposed to be $9277.. 1st count: short $100.. 2nd count: short $100.. 3rd count: short $100.. now i feel like an arsehole knowing i have to tell him its $100 short,.. so, i say: jim, this is $9177 not $9277.. he says we counted it 3 times and hes not trying to fawk me.. i say, im not t rying to fawk you either but, i counted it 3 times.. so, he pulls out a $50 and says "ill split it with you".. i say no, i dont want it, i dont want you thinking im tryin to fawk you and you dont want me thinking that either so, just keep it.
Finally this thread is becoming amusing....I was curious as to why the split payment though...but I guess we figured that one out!
I say "s c r e w him".................again!![]()
