Got Mauled today

I am not too proud of this but several years ago, like 30, my kids had a cat. I was sitting out on the back patio alone eating my dinner with my plate in my lap. That cat kept trying to jump up on my leg and I would swat it away. It was bugging me. Then out of no-where it jumped up and landed right in the middle of my plate. I reacted without thinking and I backhanded that cat so hard it flew off my lap and hit the side of the house so hard it killed it. I buried it in the backyard before the kids had seen what happened. I really felt bad about it.
I changed bandages for the third time today. Left thumb had deep penetration and appears to be healing nicely. I have one on the top of my right pinky and 2 puncture marks on the primary joint that I'm sure all 3 are to the bone. The one on the top looked kind of puffy and the 2 on the joint were oozing a bit. I got out my combat medic kit and found a scrubber in there. Got myself loaded up on about 1200mg of Motrin and waited for the pain to subside. Opened up the wounds a bit and soaked my hand in peroxide till they stopped fizzing and the swelling went down and the finger cooled off (was feeling a bit warm). I took the sprayer from the sink and flushed it out. Girlfriend was grossed out and wondering why I wasn't screaming. Didn't tell her I was on a big dose of pain meds. I opened up the scratches and dug everything out with a scrubber and sterilized dental hook. GF said they usually have feces in their claws from the litter box. Covered everything up with Iodine and aired it for a few minutes before covering. GF is on bed crying and feeling guilty about the cat running off. Worried that she may attack someone else or animal control may find her and put her down. That is if she doesn't wind up being a cat pancake since we live on a well traveled road. Cat has been outside one other time in 7 years. Anyway, I'm watching for infection and tomorrow if I need to do anywhere near what I had to tonight I'm taking a couple 500mg codine tablets I have leftover from last years surgury. Iodine stung like a MOFO when applied.
After reading that it brought back memories of when I stepped on a piece of glass on a beach in MN, we were there for guard camp and a few of us escaped for a little R&R. Long story short, I woke up in my bunk with someone taking a wire brush (that's what it looked like) and iodine to my foot that had a huge gash in it. They had no pity for me and meds were the last thing on their mind, luckily I was still 3/4 wasted so it didn't hurt quite so bad, until the 2nd scrubbing.
Good thing your not allergic to cats, a little scratch would get you all puffed up. Sounds like you did about the same thing a Dr. would do, other than maybe a tetanus shot. Now, go "soak it in-side-er"

I was planting some trees and plants at an apartment building one day. Across the street I heard this dude yelling and screaming. I couldn't make out the words but, he-was-pissed. A few minutes later the yelling came outside. This guy was actually fighting his cat. The cat was kicking his ***. Everytime the cat would attack, he would yell and scream and try and get it. The cat would get about 6' out and then jump at him. The guy would turn and the cat would land on his back, the guy would yell and scream and rip the cat off and throw it to the bushes. This went on for about 10 minutes. I still laugh when i think about that guy. I'm sure he had cuts all over his body from that ***** cat. The funniest part after all of that is that he let that cat back into the apartment. A very very funny moment for sure.
Some cats are simply Bat Sheet Crazy!! Next time it might actually attack you!! Trust me I've seen it more than once!! At that point it's simple!

the two things that will cause a cat to disappear from my house is 1- jumping on the counter and eating my food off my plate and 2- pizzin on the carpet. the girlfriend has 2 cats needless the say one cat is going to vanish for the pizzin part. almost everyday when walking out the door for work that cat has pizzed in the laundry room. to bad my dogs cant take care of the problem, good doggy do you want a treat. can you say target practice.
I hope you have went to the doc by now with that bite. I got bit two years ago in the hand and waited a day before getting it checked. I ended up in the hospital on an IV for three days. Cats have some really nasty stuff in their saliva that can spred really fast. Don't mess around with it.
