Got a photo radar ticket from Hinton Alberta

Don't you jerks in Alberta have enough money?? BC ditched photo radar years ago in order to keep from getting tossed out of office. Now the Albertans are doing it. I fired off an email to the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce as well as Town of Hinton, Holiday Inn, Earl's etc. letting them know that because of photo radar, we will now head to Vancouver to shop and staying out of Alberta. We used to go to Edmonton about 4 times a year and spend thousands. Never again. Hope they enjoy the $103.00

That sucks, but due to the increased amount of traffic accidents related to excessive speed on highway 16, they have brought in the photo radar units to help enforce the rules. I got one last year and now try to follow the posted limit, especially in Hinton.

I save that much on PST, booze and building supplies every few trips............last one I got in Red Deer was $170, I'll pay it if I move back or if I get stopped (hasnt happened in 8 years).

so let me get this straight, your speeding ticket is somehow the fault of the Hinton Chamber of Commerce, the waiter at Earls, and the front desk lady at the Holiday Inn?

Yes, us "jerks" have enough money. That's why we belly up to the bar and pay our fines when we get caught breaking the law. Enjoy your PST in Van.

Do you want some cheese with your wine??? Lets see, you break the law, get caught, and it's everyones fault but your own???

So basically you're saying;

"I cant believe they are fining me for breaking the law! Especially a law that is posted every few miles/km along the road! I bet it was that lady at the front desk of Holiday Inn, she gave me a nasty look last time, thats why i got caught. My spending money is worth more than the lives of those driving on the highway"

boo hoo

Hinton is bad they have a one tonne or half tonne set up on the service roads and they take pictures out the back slider windows of the main road.Seen this many times on the west side of Hinton.

They do the same thing here. It's almost comical to see the idiots getting tickets when there is no vehicle for miles around on the side of the road and they blast past one with a huge flashpot on the front bumper and get nailed speeding.

Why not just slow down? How is it everyone's fault but your own?

Boofriggityhoo! I got a photo radar in Hinton in March this year coming back from a sledding trip in Valemount. Guess what? I broke the law and I paid the ticket. Do I like photo radar? Not really, I think theres better things the cops could be spending their time and effort on but thats life. Quit blaming your problems on others (Earls and the Holiday Inn, wtf have they got to do with you speeding?:confused:). Like others said, enjoy your PST.

I'm not crying to Earls and the Holiday Inn about my breaking the law. Based on the evidence, my truck broke the law. That's the problem with photo radar. It punishes the registered owner of the vehicle. BTW, I was driving at the time. Not trying to make that case.

My point is that if I stand a chance to get nailed every time I go go Alberta, I'm not going.

I just wanted the businesses that I frequent in ALberta to know that this cherry picking style of law enforcement pi$$e$ me off and I'll choose to stay away. BC dumped the photo radar deal due to pressure. I can't believe that Albertans are going to take it up the a$$ without a fight.

BTW, I am sorry for calling Albertans "jerks" The Albertan sitting in the photo radar unit is a jerk. I'm sure the rest of you are fine.

I don't generally get in volved in disputes but this is kinda rediculous. You are saying that if you can't break the speed laws in AB your going to stay home? The speed limit is lower in BC is it not. I seem to see alot of 90kph signs in BC. Anyway my opinion is, we will be safer if you do stay in BC anyway. Sorry fo the rant but this one seems kinda off the wall!

There is a pedal to the left of the gas pedal. It's sole purpose is to keep you from getting nailed. Try using it a little and you should be fine.

If not, then this seems fitting

WAAAAHHHHHHHH. call this kid a wambulance, and while he's waiting, get him a wamburger with french CRIES and a WEINakin

I am really slow today because I am not understanding this. Are you thinking that visitors from another province should be exempt from our laws? I don't think it works that way here, or in BC, or most places.

asshat

If your response to a speeding ticket is to not frequent the area you got the ticket , then IMHO it is working. Stay home. Sooner or later, if you choose to speed, you will get more tickets and that will leave more roads/places you will fnot requent. I would say the preventative part of the ticket worked. Instead of slowing down, you simply will not travel there. Thanks for doing your part to keep that area safer!!

Stay home, I am sure those businesses will be fine without you there. I am guessing you are also the guy that complains to the fornt desk when you forgot to set the alarm and slept in or complain to Earl's after you ordered 3 plates of hot wing, 4 pitchers of beer and then went home and had an upset tummy.

You sound like a resonable guy. Enjoy BC

I think Trip is just blowin off some steam on snowest. I get pizzed when I get a speeding ticket.....it might be too early for a beer, but here ya go :beer;
