Hey guys,

My wonderful girlfriend is going to get me a new helmet for our anniversary so that the guys on the forum quit making fun of me (i.e. see modular helmet thread making me out to be such things as Barney and Buzz Lightyear with the help of photoshop).

I NEED YOUR HELP...

Which helmet, and why, would you go with...either the Klim F4 or the TOBE Technologies DoRock helmet????

Any helfpul information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

And what is the link to this mod helmet thread....lol I know I have an original picture, but I want to see the what the photo shop guru's have done:)

I think the speakers in the helmet option is cool, but can you actually hear much with that setup? I guess with a quiet can it might work, but to outshout a loud setup, it could be harmful to your hearing. Sounds like a great idea and I might pick one up if they work. I like tunes now and then, but hate sticking the plugs in my ears. Always falling out etc. klim looks pretty nice too. Same weight?

I really like my Klim lid. Does it come in kid's sizes?:p:p

FYI, it ain't the helmet we are making fun of, it's just a tool.:D:D;);)

Seriously, though. The Klim is a good helmet. Ya get 2 different liners and it's light.

Another vote for the Klim - I like the liners and it is waaaaaay light.

Ski Doo is coming out with a new Carbon Fiber motocross style helmet, you may want to check that out too.

I like the looks of the TOBE helmet, but which one fits best? Try some on at the snow show and pick the best one then.

I don't think the modular jokes will go away anytime soon Maverick!

Ryan, does Kristin visit snowest also? If not can I have her email address so I can share?

nice picts

I wear an HJC and like it but its getting a little beat up
so i ordered a 509 helmet and goggles should be here
in a couple of weeks if you want to try it on
I was lookin at the Klim helmet but the price tag was a
little to high for my budget this year

why are those your only two helmet choices?

Same question.

I was all set to buy a Kilm but I've seen what happens to them after small crashes. Who knows what they would look like after a serious get-off.
Those vents that look so cool break off easily and are not so cool looking.
Also, the vent ridges pack with snow.

They look great and fit (me) well, but the construction is not so hot.

There's a reason that the fins on the back break off so easy, and that is in order to make the safety specks anything that sticks up more than a 1/4" from the helmet must be a break away part as to not have an effect of preassure points during an impact.

Although I would really like to see Klim make them out of a molded rubber so they crush instead of break away and then return their shape.

Overall I like my F4, I just wish I'd had bought the 3X instead of the 2X ... try them on before you buy, they are sized a little smaller than other brands.

I too like my F4. I always needed more ventilation and finally found it with the Klim. Have the helmet with you while goggle shopping. Many brands of goggles don't fit well. 509's are pretty good though.

Thanks for all the replies guys (well, those that pertain to new helmets anyways).

I think either way I go...it will be a step in the right direction from the helmet that I currently wear...although the modular does function very, very well...just doesn't pass the "PJ Coolness Test" is all:face-icon-small-hap:D:face-icon-small-hap

That-a-boy. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Going from a modular and not caring what people think to getting a helmet based on what people will think? Me thinks your moving backwards.

Sorry man...just wanted to see what people thought about the usefullness of their $300 helmets before buying one:D

But I guess product research before purchase is frowned upon these days:face-icon-small-hap
