Good shoot em up game for the PS3?

I was looking for a good game to buy to play this winter. Any suggestions?
I was thinking the new Call of Duty maybe. What are the pro's & cons of this game? Any other games I might want to look at?

have call of duty 4. at first didnt like it at all but really enjoy playing it now. have a friend that bought call of duty 5 and he is already selling it, he didnt like it at all.

resistance 2 will be the one to get this Christmas I think, that would be my suggestion, 6 player co-op mission play, and 60 player online is pretty cool, it got great reviews and definetly looks like its worth a play, if you get it, be sure to add me and we can play a few games since its a game I will definetly be getting it at some point. Fallout 3 is a great action RPG type first person shooter, I am playing that off and on when I get the chance now, its awesome, the whole post apocaliptic world is really well done, and absolutely huge that you are free to explore, it literally takes about an hour to walk from one side to the other, but I don't have the time to invest into it. I heard the new call of duty game went more back to its roots and was a bit of a dissapointment from modern warfare.

the first one was one of my favorite games to date, definetly a worthwhile game to get if you like the FPS.

I usually go on there to get some reviews before buying, anything above 8/10 is almost always guarenteed to be a good game from my experience so far.

Thanks X-guy! I'm thinkin Resistance2 looks like a pretty fun game after watching the reviews. I was kind of set on Call of Duty5, but Resistance looks like I can take out more frustrations for lack of snow. I think I'll go pick it up tonight.

no problem, I would pick it up myself, but I think the wife already did for Christmas, so its a wait. I think my online ID is slednecks if your up for a game some time, or anyone else for that matter, though I am not on there much, I just recently figured out I need to check my inbox heh, missed a bunch of friend requests from on here I think, havnt gotten into the online gaming all that much, last time I did I got my *** handed to me by some 11 year old trash talking kid

you Know thats a tough question. Call of Duty 5 is the newest in the COD series and it has the online multiplayer that COD4 introduced which is a blast. R2 was better during the single player but the multiplayer online isn't as big as the COD. Tough choice and you have to pick.
