Good riding areas near EML?

I have been given asked to be a guide for a work related ride (customers not co-workers), my company has arranged the sled rentals/rooms from Electric Mountain Lodge. I mostly ride out of either Bonham or the VC. I do not know that side of the mountain at all. Any recommendations of some ''good' areas would be much appreciated. Personally I like the steep/deep/trees.....but I need to curve this ride to fit the inexperienced group. I just want some good options, not a lousy trail/meadow ride.

Thanks!
Scott

You've been asked to be a guide for a bunch of newbies that are your company's customers and you don't want a lousy trail/meadow ride?! Are you trying to keep these customers or kill them? Do they know how to safely ride a sled? Have they (or you) had any avalanche training? You are just asking for trouble IMO if you take a bunch of rookies into the steep and deep. Shmoozing customers isn't about putting them in dangerous situations it's about making them happy. Assess the group and then decide what type of terrain they can handle.

That said, there is some nice riding due west of EML in the drainage below Overland Reservoir. It's got some good trees, small hills, etc. back in there. If the group turns out to need that trail ride/meadows type of riding head north and east on the SP - just a few miles out there are some nice tame meadows to play in.

Good luck and don't kill anybody! EML is a fabulous resort IMO.

LOL....relax a little.....these aren't a 'normal' customer.....they are in for the thrill. I should have been a little more clear in my OP. No ones gonna get killed. They come out every year and ride with me. But they at times will bring with them a newbie or two....this is where it's tuff, trying to entertain the whole group at different levels of experience. I just need to have different areas as an option. These customers asked for this trip and for me to guide due to the years past of riding with me. My company is great with customers, sledding/skiing/Ice fishing/golfing/Bar Z fishing/private big game hunts/etc.... Pick yourself up a Gulfstream or Challenger aircraft, bring it to us for a major event and you too can enjoy these fun days here on the western slope. Thanks for the directions, that does help a bunch!

Ok, relaxed. :face-icon-small-coo You guys do amazing work out there! I've seen some of your completions. I end up 'guiding' alot of rides and it stinks when you have a whole group that can do the steep and deep stuff and one or two who can't. Kinda puts a damper on the whole thing. If you follow the powerline north it comes out into some great play spots after crossing the SP.

Scott, you've got the whole Grand Mesa to ride from EML. Take a trip over for lunch to one of the lodges on the west side, you and your group can wear yourselves out with all the playing you'll find on a day trip for lunch. My son and a friend and their wives are up there (EML) thru this weekend.
Enjoy, Ron
PS sounds like your in aviation, son's and I have been into flying and aviation for 46 years.

Thanks guys, that's the info I was looking for. Last year this group stayed at TML, had a fantastic time.....they just wanted to try something different this year. I've done my job as long as I bring'em back to the cabin completely exhausted at the end of the day......lol.

Ron, I am 1 of 3 Maintenance Team Supervisor's for the Gulfstream/Learjet Program, been with this company 14 years.

Cateye, it's funny how little people know about what we do out there......we give tours quite frequently and always the same responses "so all of this takes place right here in little ole GJ?" LOL....We have very few local customers, most are scattered all across the globe, includung international customers.

Under the previous owners we handled all the audit and tax work so I am familiar with you guys. There are quite a few businesses here in little old Gj that people have no clue about-

Whaddya mean we don't have enough Lears to keep you guys busy out there! LOL - I loved the Harley Davidson one - that was a Gulfstream I think - or a Challenger? I can't remember, it was just cool that's all I know.

Were you up with your group this weekend? (2/24) the snow was fantastic!

I believe the Harley theme was a Citation X, That one was based out of Daytona Beach, FL.

I miss the Buescher's, they were awesome to work for. We do have a unique little valley.

I did ride Saturday and yes the snow was awesome! The group of misfits (that's what I call them...lol) will be up this Thursday evening, we'll ride Fri & Sat.
