We are thinking about trying out Island Park this year. when i a good time to come out and a good place to stay.

thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a place, there are many great ones available; IP Lodge, Anglers, Ponds Lodge, Lakeside Lodge and there are many more. Hopefully some of the local guys can help you out also. But you can't go wrong with your selection of IP as a riding area. The folks there are great! Enjoy:beer;

can you sled right from where you stay? that is what i want. i don't like to have to trailer to ride.

No matter where you stay, you can ride from your door. Once you park your rig you will not need to move it untill you leave.

This is the best part! I HATE trailering every day.

My advice, stay away from Ponds Lodge. The first time we stayed there, there was friggen BUGS in the beds! The second time was uneventful. The third time they wouldn't give us anything to use in our kitchenette, the cabin was heated with a wood stove and there was NO WOOD AND NO AXE. We froze our asses off and nobody gave a ****. The only thing Ponds is good for is getting ****faced to oblivion.

Go to the Pines if you like warm, clean cabins, hot meals and friendly staff. The Lakeside would be a good choice as well and is close to Jefferson. Does anyone know if they've got Premium fuel there this year?

We'll be heading there in Feb by the sounds of it!

x2 on the pines, cabins are very nice, resturant is good too. Ride right from the cabins. Only other advice I would give you is make sure when ever you do come make sure that you are up on the AVY conditions. There are some spots to stay out of in IP when the conditions get bad.

dawg- if you are looking to rent a cabin, check out www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner). and yes, riding from your door is the best part about island park. let me know what weekend you are coming and i'll meet you for a beer and a ride.

cool i will take you up on that. i always like to try and hook up with a guide or a local when i go to a new place to get a feel for the area. we are thinking new y ears or 3rd week in january for a week.

We go to the Pines every year, just love it. Very comfortable. We skipped last year and stayed in west to try to save a few bucks, will be back to the pines.

If your here over new years ill be in revy but any other weekend shoot me a pm and I will try to come up and play. Always looking for pieps to ride with.

well we don't know for sure when we are coming out. maybe new years or maybe 3rd week of jan. have to get the guys together to find out.

it would be great to hook up with a couple you you guys while we are out there.

Yep, you can't go wrong at the Pines. If you are in need of fuel the Elk Creek Station is handy or if you head toward Mt. Jefferson there's gas at Shotgun too. Can't wait to get out there again in January!!:beer;

I dont think there is any secret stashes in IP. The jefferson area is good but can be hairy when the Avy Danger is high, been in there when everything is sliding and playing in the flats feels spooky. Some great areas by shotgun, pm khaddon on here, he has a cabin in that area and should be able to give you directions to some good honey holes.
