Good Oil

Ive been using polaris gold oil on my 2011 pro, just put new pistons in, and a buddy of mine recommended amsoil interceptor oil and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it, and also if it is better, and lastly if it would hurt to mix it in with the polaris oil in the first fill up or two?

I use it in my 09 777 RMK and will use it in 2014 Pro. Yes, you can mix it with the Poo oil.

Ok, being completely different, I use Phillips 66 Injex Pro in all my sleds. Seems to work real good for me.

As for mixing oil, don't if you can help it because supposedly it can cause problems with your oil pump. I haven't personally experienced that but it's probably a good caution. I carry a quart of oil with me and then ride the machine until the oil light starts blinking so that I can get as much of the old oil out of the system that I can while still being lazy and letting the engine use it up instead of me manually trying to get it out.

Cant go wrong with Polaris VES Gold oil. Redline and Amsoil make for VERY stinky exhaust that burns your eyes. Dont like to follow someone down the trail that uses either.

VES gold - on the other hand - smells good and does not burn your eyes - voice of experience. I hear the Legend oil is the same, but have not used it. Gotta be something in the Redline and Amsoil that causes this. Other than that, i am sure they are all good oils.

Amsoil Intercepter Oil

I have used this oil for the past 6 years, I am on my third barrel. I have 3500 miles on my Assault, valves are as clean or cleaner than Polaris VES oil. We have 10 sleds in the family and haven't had an engine issue.. I had 2800 miles on my 08 dragon when I sold it.
I would definitely recommend it. I usually add a cup to the tank when filling with gas.
I am sure you will find 1000 opinions on this subject.....

What about SHELL synthetic snowmobile oil? anybody used it? its expensive as hell, but they promise your sled becomes a jet fighter after using it.

I've been using the Legend Oil... TOP NOTCH... wear at a minimum and pleasant smell from exhaust.

I've noticed my Exhaust valves stay cleaner longer... and, since it is a mineral oil (SUPER high quality) I also worry less about internal corrosion from condensation.

Ditto here.

I've been running Legend for four years with no issues at all. Clean valves, nice smell and reasonably priced.

Your buddy is a Amsoil dealer.....

It will work like any other good quality oil, it will not improve your performance over the Polaris VES Gold.

Thanks for posting this link! Great info!

I would like to try this oil, but like the document shows, it has poor availability. Would sure like to know if someone in or around the Boise Idaho area is a dealer. The shipping costs to get it from the mid-west (i think) is a bit of a deterrent. I think once this company (Legend) solves their availability issues, their sales will explode . . . just sayin' :)

Being mineral based is a very good thing . .. imo. Which one are you running? ZX-2SR or ZX-2R? Do you have a dealer in your area?

I have ordered straight from legend http://www.legendperformance.com/
If you order 2 cases you get 1/2 off shipping on the second case.
Or find Mark Zaic (president of legend) at your local snow show and get it by the five gallon pails like I did this year.

nobody ever asks about shell oil, ive been running it for years in my Dragon 700's, sold one two years ago at 6400km's never an issue, tonnes of compression on stock top end still. Sold my last one this summer with 10,000 km on it with shell oil for over half of that after a broken crank on the pto side forced my rebuild. Ive never had a problem with the oil.

Its nice because it come in 5 liter jugs and Canadian tire sells it dirt *** cheap compared to polaris oil.

I now have a 2012(still on ves gold for warrantys sake) and a 2014 pro coming which will stay on ves gold as well until done warranty.

Why? I have no idea why I keep coming back for the oil at Polaris guess Im comfortable in their research too. I should just switch them over to shell as they cannot deny warranty for oil used as long as it meets specs for pour points ect. and save a bunch of money.

Now with BRP's new oil, I am wondering about running it in my pros? its supposed to be amazingly advanced for this season.
