i like that alot man, when you bobbed it did you just get a kit to do it?

also, thanks everyone for the input.

no sir, not kit just random ebay parts :p...I'll be 100% honest, I am not the handiest around with metal fabbing but I managed to build that using a grinder, flux core welder, and basic hand tools. It was pretty easy, a lot more time consuming that I was expecting though (mostly b/c of redoing a few things). I have pictures of the build, when I get done I'll probably put together a little slide show or make an album on photobucket or something..or I could email them to you if you want...but in a nut shell I took the back fender off, cut the frame rails off with the grinder, welded some metal on the ends to clean it up (should have done it differently), bought different (lower) shocks, bought the fender on ebay and cut it to fit, took off all the huge ugly gauges, headlights, and blinkers...mounted new ones, cut the wires shorter...welded on 2 little tabs for the seat and WA-LA! It was definitely a fun project and good one for us beginners.

One of the coolest parts about that project is how easy a person could put their own style into it. You could give 20 guys the same rough idea and you'd have 20 completely different looking bikes, 19 of them for the same cheap price...I say 19 b/c you always have one guy who goes overboard and turns it into a pro-street bike just so he can be "that guy":)

One more thing...if you decide to do any project like this, I strongly suggest you NOT start a thread anywhere about your build with pictures as you go. Build the bike the way you want it built and learn from your own mistakes. I usually do the "norm" now-a-days and have a thread somewhere showing my build and asking questions...on this bike I didn't do that. Instead I found a pic of a bike I kinda of wanted to resemble and started building it my way. I'm very happy I did it that way. Added a few challenges here and there but it kept the bike mine and not a hodge-podge of peoples ideas that I don't even know. Gives you a little more pride in your project, even the ugly parts you messed up that you swear you are going to go back and fix someday :). About every-other person I show it to now asks why I didn't do this or that or put on this part...simple, "b/c I built it you didn't...you can do that to yours".

Ok I'm done now...:D:beer;

awesome man, and i would love to see the pictures, ill pm you my email...

im stoked to hear that because i got a welder a little while ago and have been fabbing like crazy, but dont have a bunch of rediculous tools...(like a bender and watnot)....:)

Get yourself into an older Honda CB, the old 750's ran really good, and were absolutly bulletproof. Great old bikes, especially with fenders bobbed and turned Cafe racer!

I agree with the Suzuki Sv650, or if you want it's competitor, the Yamaha Fz6. It comes with a half fairing that you can remove, 93hp 600cc. A comfortable semi upright seating position. All around nice bike. I just sold my 05' with 6800 miles in mint condition for 4k.

Yep you will eventually lay er down. And you guys that have hit birds, I would've gladly traded ya for the one hit. It took all I could do to lay it over to the side verus going straight off the back of the bike. Freaking turkeys

Yamaha Roadstar Warrior

Not gonna get it for $4000 but a fun and easy to ride bike. Looks "like" a harley handles like a sport bike.
