Good first ride in Washington?

Never ridden in Washington before, living in Seattle, and looking for recommendations as to where I should go for my first rip in this state once we get some snow. Would like to keep drive time 3> ea way for the first spin, and not looking for anything too crazy. Looking for good trails, but opportunity to hit some good backcountry w/o having to climb anything potentially dangerous. Preemptive thanks to any ideas and responses.

Once it gets cold... hit the backside of capital hill. It's sick!

I actually rode the back side of capital hill in 08. lol My girl and I rode Lake WA Blvd, Madison, Broadway, Pikes Place Market, Alki Beach...was fun! Maybe get to do it again this winter! I have a pic of us on the sled in front of the Pike's Market sign...I'll have to make it my avatar...

If it snows enough, I am definitely ripping through Seattle this winter.

Did you have any trouble with police??

can you get a ticket for riding a tabbed SNOWmobile on the street, in the snow? Maybe doin 80 in a 25:lol:

The first cop I came across was on beacon hill and the **** actually turned on his sirens and lights I pulled close and took off down a side street towards the power lines then I was gone. Wasn't gonna stop so I could volunteer to pay a huge fine while the city was shut down. Silly cop Musta been from California.
I passed a cop in south park on my way to west Seattle and he gave me thumbs up. So its a roll of the dice. Both were Seattle police but one of the two recognized the difference between riding a quad down a city street and riding a snowmobile when there's over a foot of snow in s city that very rarely sees an inch.
Bottom line...we get another storm like that...Woohoo!

All I have to say is if there is enough snow on the city streets to actually break out a snowmobile...then A: they can't catch you. (because Seattle doesn't have snow plows, let alone police sled) and B: youre most safe on one. Duh.
