Golden - Skiers lost for 9 days - Sad ending

Thanks to all

I am posting to this forum for Connie Burch, Larry's wife. She would like to thank you for the kind words and consideration that you have expressed here in this forum and some in person.

Today we paid our respects to Larry in a funeral held in Ogden. The attendance was overwhelming. There have been many kind jestures and acts that have given comfort to me and my family.

I know that Larry would be moved to know of the care and concern that the sledding community has shown.

I am comforted when I read your kind words. God bless you all.

Connie Burch

After dealing with the Golden RCMP last year with the guy who was breaking into sled trucks. I'm not surpised this kinda thing happened, not the most ambitious task force in our nation. I might be wrong...,but i think NASA has chimps smarter than this. I don't know how SOS stomped out in the snow half a mile from the resort in a sharp gulley can be any clearer that someone needs help... not:cool:

this is a increble story showing the strength of one being able to survive in the harse canadian winter for 9days with little to none survival equipment. fighting off a pack of wolves with his ski! the pack probably just ventured on and wiped out the cariboo population for a 10mile radius. unfortately this story end didnt have a happy ending :(

to the golden rcmp... im thinkin they were too busy sittin on the side of the road eyeing trailers goin by to see who is overweight or not

Ill prepared or not they gutted out 10 days, 9.5 more days than I would want to.
Condolences to the family.

I guess saving stranded skiers doesn't generate revenue like writing tickets for traffic offences?

Montreal police said the children reported the couple missing when the two failed to return from their ski trip on Feb. 23.

Cedilot said Fortin, a former nurse, used to come over to help her with cancer injections. Now she can hardly believe what's befallen the couple.

"It's unreal," said Cedilot. "She was so young. She was beautiful."

Cedilot's husband Michel said: "It's terrible. They're the best neighbours you could have

What a terrible ordeal for these folks. My condolences to the family.
I was reading the report that m8magicandmystery posted and the mention of cancer injections. Maybe she was not strong enough to ski or hike out. Still, very unfortunate on the way the RCMP handled it.

she helped give the cancer injections...not recieve them..i think that she was healthy as such he as well...l read an interesting article and surviving without food can be a long time..and often short...interesting is that they say that the biggest factor in time of surviving without food is the will one has to survive..but very sad..as i said..they could be faulted but bottom line is cries for help were there and ignored..!!!..inexcusable and absolutely zero defense..!!
