I am going to Island Park for my first trip out west. I have a 06 crossfire 700 EB with a Straightline pipe, can,Ypipe, Vforce 3 reeds, billet air intake and it has had a little porting and polishing done to it also I am running an EPI clutch kit in it, and have a 2" paddle track. I just got all this stuff done to the sled this summer so not sure on how it will run hoping good. The question I have is is there anything else I should do before heading out west beside change the clutching and what should I change that to I was thinking just running stock cat clutching 5-9000ft. any Ideas would be great thanks.

if your EB has 65-55 gears you will want to gear down. the later 60-60 stock gearing is still tall for the mountain, but alot better.

track length

Don't ride down into something you cant side hill your way back out. I have a left hand throttle just incase I need to throw every bit of weight I have to the left to keep me out of trouble. I rode a 136 Powder Special for years and went every where any one else went, just had to work a lot harder.

Do you think I will have any problem with running to lean while I am out there, also what do you guys think about the stock high altitude clutching. Please let me know thanks

stock weights

Stock weights will be fine.you will not know about lean tell you get there.I would unplug gray ECU wire to help. What size track do you have.If you get fresh snow and have short track that is where you will have problems. The big mnts. in fresh snow will swallow up most 144 or less.:D

for cluching

you could search the M forum,, tons of stuff on it there
but cat ornge secondary and cat gold primary is something i have used before with good results . at the bare min i would go with cat ornge secondary with the 36 helix and yah the gears are a little tall , see if you can get some 60-60s or even Ms 57,63 .. you can ride what you got though , just saying it would be better to go lower.

I am thinking of ordering the Blackdiamond 57/63 gears and I will be running a 2" track out there. My other question is I am running a 1.5 intense Track at home how much top end am I going to lose I wouls still like to see 90mph if possible but not the end of the world if I dont. Thanks again for the responses

what do you mean concerned with running lean out west.if you did the mods stated there is no way you wont be burning down without a boondocker or other ecu manipulator box any place you ride

I grew up in Idaho. Rode Island Park & West Yellowstone from time to time. No need to do 90 mph there, It's steep & deep & that's the whole point of the trip right.

As posted above. Your X-fire will do fine with m7 gearing & m7 clutching. She will be belt eater with a 2" and x-fire gears & clutching. Do you have a way to monitor the engine you might be lean now.

lean

If you are gaining altitude, your A/F will get richer as air density decreases. If you are running a proper mixture at low elevations, you will run rich at higher elevation. If you are running proper mixture at high elevation, you will be lean at lower elevation, as the air is denser at low elevation. So you won't have to worry about being lean if you are right at your location, but you might have to worry about being rich out here.

Thanks for all the replys I am not trying to go 90mph out west I live in MN so i do most of my riding here and unfortunatly we hit lakes which are boring. I was going to run the stock high alt clutch for a crossfire and the M gearing do you think I will eat belts still or should I be OK.

I was told with a pipe, can, ypipe and reeds with the billet air intake that I should run a boondocker. I am wondering what you guys think since them sleds come so rich from the factory I went thhrough a quart of oil every 90mi before also the sled has some porting and polishing done. Most of my riding is done in MN. Thanks again for your help.

So you haven't run this setup back home yet?

#1, get egt's.
#2, yeah you will need a fuel box of some sort, attitude, pcIII, or bd box.

If you're not a big tuner & you plan to tune it yourself, I'd go for the attitude, VERY easy to set up & the transition points from one setting to another seem to be more smooth than the BD box to me.
