Going into limp mode breaking in the FIX

Looking for some answers as to why after 20 miles into a trail ride to break in a newly installed FIX kit on my 09 D8, the limp mode started tripping. Sled ran flawlessly with much more throttle response most of the day. This is what I'm hoping is the reason...I had half a tank of fuel that was stabilized from last yr, I topped off with fresh 91 pump and added a Qrt of Polaris Blue to tank for pre mix. I think perhaps the octane rating was down due to the old fuel and the pre mix oil, causing to go into DET ...any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Guys

Randy, I would have to agree with you that the old fuel most likely caused your issue. I would suck out or drain all the fuel, refill, and ride again to see if the problem returns.

Agreed^ probably the worst thing u can do for sleds is run old gas esp during break-in, get it ALL out and fill with new premium... most gas has a shelf life of 6 weeks before it starts to lose octane not to mention the water(condensation) that may have accumulated.

We had the same thing happen and what we noticed is that the exhast pipe was so friking hot that the snow would just boil off of it , seemed like the pre-mix egg it on ( combination of oil injection and pre-mix causes hotter exhaust gases ) . The temp gauge stays in the 120s' . Almost forgot when it had premix in it and stabbing the throttle almost guaranteed it to go into limp mode (completely opposite of what your told to do with these 8s' ) . Problem seems to have left now that we're not premixing . Are your plugs finally the color of a normal plug ? :face-icon-small-hap

Maybe fuel because as the motor broke in the compression came up?

Is the engine light coming on and staying on, flashing, etc?

Pipe sensors are infamous for going bad... seen it on every Dragon I've been around. But if it goes bad the light flashes I believe 5 times on a regular basis.

Thanks Sled Guy

Hey Sled Guy...that makes sense about the compression raising as the new rings and pistons seat. I had no issues the 1st 20 miles, then started tripping into limp mode whenever I got into the throttle very hard. No flashing 5 times from Check Eng light just constant, I would shut off and restart and ride several miles till tripped again. Probably wont know the answer till the next ride with fresh fuel. Thank you guys for the feed back!!!

Knock sensor

Check that your knock sensor or det sensor is not too tight,If they are too tight they could cause this. Manual says 168 in/pounds and clean and dry when installing, easy check

Next time it does it pull any plug and what ever you do don't put your face over the hole ( the fumes will fry your eyes ) , you'll smell it and it's nasty and than do the same thing when it's not in limp mode .
