Go Pro cam / advice

Well I just had a birthday and to my surprise, my wife got me a Go Pro camera. Needless to say I’m excited about trying it out but I also, are there any tips or recommendations for a newbie getting started with a helmet cam??

One question that comes to mind right of the bat is, which mount do most use? I assume the helmet mount is the most popular but then do most mount it on the side or on the top of the helmet???

Any and all advice or pointers is welcome!!

We use the helmet mount on the top the most often. But the suction cup mount is very cool as well.

These are great units but try to get a tether cord on it.. Lots of guys loose their camera's..

Nice, you'll enjoy it.:face-icon-small-hap

I hate watching video of people who mount it on the side of their helmets, I feel like I'm trying to hang on so I don't fall off and it limits the vision to the opposite side considerably.

Mounting on the top of the helmet is common and gives a balanced perspective, but if you ride in the trees a lot it can be an excellent target to get ripped off by a tree limb.

I found I had just enough room to mount my camera under my visor above my goggles... I can literally 'keep an eye on it' there and not have to worry about it getting lost or hit by brush and it has an un-obstructed view with just enough room to keep it out of my line of sight also. If you decide to do something like that though, just remember to set the camera to record in upside-down mode.

My 960 HD (in 720 mode) mounted as shown....

That's a pretty cool idea, but on my current helmet, there's not enough room. Hmmm....maybe I'll just have to upgrade the helmet, oh darn.

I was actually thinking about a right side mount, easy to operate and not sticking way up in the air.

i use most on top of my helmet with no problem but did hit some few limbs, not that hard hit. you can pick anywhere you want to set your camera on. I set it on the hood, front bumper, rear, and top of helmet.

sometime I accident click the wrong button and sometime it change the camera into picture 2 second shot mode. sometime I forget to turn it off or dont remember if it was recording...

I have seen alot of gopro footage...and I think hands down the best mount for that camera is the chest strap mount. IMO this gives the best perspective for rider forward POV with the gopro
