Go big or go home ???

In '07 I rode an m1000 then in '08 rode my wife's m8, then stole it from her and have had a m1000 takin' up space in my garage since.

Who has the best pipe/pipes?

Check the search function on that one.

Lots of good argu... err, discussions about 1000 pipes on here.

Long & short, pipe only slp wins (I have yet to ever see that, & I don't like SW at all), gonna do more mods, SW. For twins, cutler.

As weight goes, if you're not going to go mesh, at least gut the stocker, and you can pull one or both lights for a HUGE difference in venting & some more weight loss.

Other weight loss items, a arms, ported clutch sheives, ti bolts (pricey), cross drilled drive belts, get rid of the POS steering post if it's an 09...

before I purchased last year I based my pick on power to weight ratio and costs
that is power with mods i was going to do at elevation vs rider wieght and sled full of fuel and all gear and add 35lbs for snow build up and you will find the m1000 with a single pipe and y pipe will give the best results.

Remember when we are comparing the hp difference between the 800 and 1000 it is only 5 hp, but it's the torque we should be talking about. The difference is a lot greater in favor of the 1000. The 09 is leaps and bounds better than the 07. I have both.
