GM and Dodge Possibilities after Bankruptcy

I just wanted to see some response from die hard buy American folks like myself. I have always prided myself on buying American, but if GM and Dodge go through bankruptcy and stay tied to the UAW on my tax money, Ford and Foriegn automakers just got my business. My feeling is that if the unions won't bend and make the company supporting them viable, then move the companies West where people would be happy to make 20 to 30 bucks an hour without all the pensions and retirement. This country's feeling of entitlement will be it's undoing.

I will never buy GM or Dodge ever again.
that is of cource unless they repay the billions they owe us.

With Obama running GM he could dictate that all government agencies purchase only Gm vehicles. The sad part is, he would say it was to help the company out and get away with it.

Guess I am going to have to do some home work and see which jap cars are built in the U.S..

People will forget!!! ........ Want me to prove it???

OK, How do these same A-HOLES get into office every time??? People Forget.

Friends in my state were telling me Chris Dodd will never get in next year and I told them I can see it, and guess what a poll out 2 days ago shows him climbing in the poll:mad:

.

i have been thinking about that for a week how crazy a person would be to buy a new gm or dodge.

You don't have to be sponshured to post here....:D

Diehard American supporting person myself. Dodge van for my business and Jeep for pleasure. I may be hoping for the best, but hopefully this is temporary and the Goverment will sell after reorg has happened. Goverment ownership of an enterprise like this? I can see another Mustang Ranch in the making.

I'm goin with ford once I need a new truck. Sad part is there going to start taxing ford and make new regulations to put them under. not good.

Just curious

I got a letter from GM stating the usual stuff about how we will always be there and "we want to be your car company" blah blah. Anyone else get this letter last week?

You'll look good in a Jap car. Take one on a tour of Pearl Harbor.

always have bought GM vehicles. Between personal and company probably 15 in the last 5 years. Never again while it is government motors

Then the company, your government and your country are doomed to fail. Buy GM cars, they make money, pay the loans back and get rid of the government handlers. Tell you what, sell everything and buy yourself a bicycle. Oil profits fund terrorism. Your sled burns gas. You are supporting terrorism. Same kind of thinking as what you've presented here.

You don't get it.
It is illigal for the government to be in direct competition with a privately owned company.
The first 15 BILLION dollars are already being written off as bad debt and forgiven.
The next 30 billion will NEVER be recovered.
It is NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB TO BAIL OUT POORLY RUN COMPANIES.
It is NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB TO BAIL OUT THE BANKS.
It is NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB TO BAIL OUT PEOPLE THAT MADE BAD HOME LOAN DECISIONS.

The list goes on and on.

I will not help prop up Obama motors.
As for your crude jab about pearl harbor. Been there, the nuke sub I was on pulled in there for R+R. Also flew into and out of there on various security details.
So spare me the BS. You don't have a clue.

Tell ya what.
When it is YOUR childeren and grandchilderen picking up the tab for all the BS Bailouts, then you can have a say in what responce we should have.

I'll more than likley still buy a Dodge next year. They'll still be around and so will GM. All the chicken littles running around saying the sky is falling is just plain dumb. If you all want to switch to Ford and drive their cars that is your choice. I myself if I don't buy a Dodge, which is highly doubtful then I will seriously look at Toyota as my next pickup purchase. Ford to me has nothing over those 2 brands except a name. They definatley don't have the best motors.

No doubt both GM and Chrysler will be around for years to come.
We have dumped BILLIONS into them.
Arn't we nice.
I just refuse to support Obama's social experiment.
If GM had gone into bankrupcy and went thru the process, I would still be buying GM. The instant Obama bought the company (with our money), I want nothing to do with it.

Put yourself in Ford's shoes...you have been competing with GM and Chrysler for years and years, you made a couple good moves to finance your company two years ago which has allowed you to remain solvent during a sales downturn. Your competitors(GM & Chrysler) are not positioned to survive. You have a historical opportunity to profit as a result of your good decisions. TIME OUT! Big government stepped in and handed over $billions to your competition. Your big payday vanished at the hands of your own government.

Like Ollie said, government has no place in private enterprise.
