Given this story, we're we still mislead?

You can bet your azz the main media will do everything they can to bury that story or any story that would give the dems (especially Obama) a black eye this close to the election.

Truth has nothing to do with facts.

Not much of a secret mission now, is it?

I remember watching CNN live feed with the "embedded reporters" traveling with the Marines as they were overtaking areas around Baghdad. The reporter said something about high radiation levels at what "appeared" to be a nuclear research facility. They cut to a commercial mid-sentence and never said another word about it. This was about 1am our time as I was working a late shift. I thought I was imagining things but some of my co-workers saw the same thing. Things like that make me wonder how much govt control their might be in the media and how much we really know about the WMD's that may have been found but never made public.

No, because the Bush administration has been controlling media to a new higher level than any president before.

Hmmm, I thought he was and his team was a bunch of bumbling idiots?

There is no doubt the yellowcake Uranium was the centerpiece of the whole getting to Weapons grade (remember the Valerie Plame thing and her hubbie going to niger to find out about Saddams seeking Yellowcake?)

there is NO doubt that it would have a monumental impact on the economy to have a bomb go off, especially if radiation levels immediately skyrocketed... there would be widespread panic, and untold amounts of people fleeing in panic and rampling people etc. if some diesel fertilizer bomb went off and spread yellowcake around (which BTW can be airborn pretty easily (thus spread easily) panic would no doubt ensue...

In a word yes, at least to the extent we know. The fact they moved yellowcake that is now 18 years old or older (and was 12 years old when we started the war) and was know about by the U.S., Israel, France and other countries long before we started the war doesn't mean that it's true that Saddam was looking for more. And to this date no one has shown it to be true that he was. Leave it to Fox to try to find an angle that doesn't exist!

Yellowcake uranium is just processed uranium into a more pure form. It cannot be directly used for atomic weapons, it takes more work and further processing. Yellowcake is used in nuclear energy. Since they had a nuclear reactor operational, I think it would be safe to say they had yellowcake. I thought that whole Valerie Plame thing was an over exaggeration anyways?

lol, since the reactor was a French design, I would hope the new about it, otherwise they must of thought they sold Mr. Fusion instead.

Not really.
I can be used directly for weapons. According to some of the intel reports proir to the invasion Iraq was trying to sell the yellow cake for just this kind of weapon.

It's called a dirty bomb. Easy to move, easy to set up and easy to set off.
Yellow cake doesn't degrade in fire so it is usable in just about any kind of bomb you want.
The amount of yellow cake they found would have made quite a few bombs.

The admin kept it secret so as not to tip off the terrorist that they still had it in the country.

The media wasn't informed because they LOVE to give all our intel to the enemies of this country on a silver plater.

You guys seem so surprised that the military keeps secrets. I am glad we didn't have the media and public back in 1941 that we have now. We would all be speaking german or japanize.

Terrorist don't need to worry about spiing on the US to get military info, all they have to do is read the wall street journal.

Wan't there a big stink about it being a french reactor since france had sworn not to sell nuclear tech to the middle east?

I am not sure, though the French have been strong trading partners with that region of the world for a pretty long while.

So 550 metric tons of yellowcake is not dangerous? Are you serious? Well its pretty obvious that those who feel we were mislead into the war, will stand by this belief and condemn our going to war, even though Iraq is better off today and a liberated country with its own government. Iraq's prime minister announced on Saturday that the terrorists have been defeated, and plans are already being talked about for drawing down the troops. Imagine that! We're winning a war that democrats said we'd already lost. There are swimming pools opening for Iraqi kids to swim in, and soccer fields for them to play on. But it's a mistake to have a US ally in the middle east? As for the comment about the Bush administration controlling the media. Give us some examples here, because as I recall the media couldn't have gotten away with crap during world war II courtesy one Pres. Roosevelt. And the comment about fox, well sorry buddy but that was a report put out on the wires from the AP. No fox bias in that report. The seattle times ran the same story.
