GF wants a dog for Christmas

No freakin way! My buddy has a chihuaua. It's like livin with a crackhead always shakin', wants up, then down, then up, then down, no outside, no lemme back in, gotta pee on the floor. The breed is always anxious but i think his has ADHD.

BULLMASTIF...Big and they just love you for no particular reason. I cant say that much about my girl. lol

I love Labs, they are great dogs...personality that can't be matched. They shed a lot, whatever dog you choose. It will only be as good as you train it, spending countly hours in it's first two years. Will reward you for many years after.

I'm a fan of Labs also. Mine has two personalities. When she's at home, she's a lap dog. When she's with her buddies at the kennel, LOOK OUT:face-icon-small-sho

GREAT dog. AS said, lots of time for training will pay off.

I have a lab and always have had labs. Everyone in my family pretty much has labs. I don't think you can go wrong with them, but you do need to exercise them. The first 2 years are the hardest, after then they mellow out for the most part. The key with them (probably with any dog) is to get them trained early, and to be consistent. I would say all of the dogs in our family behave better than most people's kids do.

No, a lot of people hate them for their demeanor. The name just happens to follow the breed. I like all dogs, but time and time again I see with my own eyes why pitbulls are not good dogs. JMHO.
If you were around my 4 dogs for a day, even with endless little kids running around they would change your mind, i guarrantee that. Its all in the up bringing, pits can be good dogs but this is conversation has been beaten to death. But dont say all are bad, i will agree that alot are, but not all pits. To say they all are is an ignorant and uneducated statement.

But like someone said earlier, it starts with a dog, then she will want a kid, then a new car, then a bigger house. Be careful bud, its all a big trap!

So I hung around with my buddy when I was back home. He's got a dog and a cat. I had a severe allergic reaction and wasn't sure if it was the cat or the dog. Girlfriend comes up with the idea of goin to the pound and hangin out with the dogs to see what happens. Well the first one they bring out to test turns out to be the one. So we are all at home relaxin. This has to be the most laid back dog on the planet.

Go with a lab, my 20 mo. old son can use him for a punching bag all day long and he never lifts his head. You know first a dog then it is down that slippery slope to a kid. Having a dog counts as having a family you know.

I have a mastiff / great dane cross. They love to cuddle up and be pet. The only downside is he is growing like a weed. Just hit 9 months and weighs in at 115. Right now he looks like a great dane tall and skinny but soon he will fill out. He eats quit a bit but does his fair share of sleeping and lounging around too.

HA HA HA! :face-icon-small-fro jerk. jk So new to us dog, no idea how she is. Took her on an overnight road trip, 5 hours 1 way. Dog slept in the back of the truck the whole way. Walked around in Toronto, no problems. Stopped every hour or so she just hopped out did her business got back in laid down in the back and went back to sleep. Had her to the local petsmart. All kinds of dogs around no problem. GET THIS! took her to the vet, he puts her on the table full examination, 2 needles in the back of the neck pokein and proddin. NOT ONE PEEP outta this dog. Didn't squirm, didn't bark, nothin. Keep in mind this dog has never seen this vet before and has only known us for a day. While at the vet we found a large scar on the back of her neck and lately she seems very anxious around me. Not my girlfriend though just seems to be dudes. Whoever had this dog before us should hope that I never find him. While in T.O. we bring her to my girlfriends best friends apartment. Her roommate has a cat. This dog didn't even acknoledge the cat till the cat hissed and scratched her. Spade just barks twice gets up on the couch barks again and settles down. I think we actually have the perfect dog.

Loyal, protective and super smart. Get a German Shepherd. This is ours. His name is Griswald, a.k.a. "The Griz". And yes, he was named after Clark W., we got him just before Christmas 4 years ago..
