So, Last Friday I ran over to Georgia Pass. I had a new snowmobile, all right at least new to me, I wanted to try out.
I made it to what I think is the parking area. Snow started getting a little deep to continue in. Riding the road up to the pass was very difficult riding. It was wind blown and drifted in some areas and bare rock and dirt in others. There is no way you could get a vehicle any closer.
Finally made to where the pass starts and made it about 75% up the first switchback. Snow was deep drifted over 4 feet in areas.
I got stuck 3 times the final stick took me 3 ½ hours with a shovel to get out. Crappy part was had I not been such a ***** and hammered it I probably would have made it through.
The area I got stuck in was sloped with a very slippery ice under all the snow. The 159” track dug to china and could not get traction on the ice. So I had to dig the area out and spin the machine around.
This was my first time riding this area. If you have ridden it before I got stuck just past the old cabin
Looks like a good avalanche area. Not sure I am going to ride it again alone
I ended up sore as hell from digging the whole time but I had a blast. I tore a few lugs of my track somewhere I’m guessing on the small dirt sections I had to cross. I guess its not such a big deal since it’s a old track and had a few missing anyways.
This was my first ride on anything over a 440cc machine. Holy chit It felt like that 800 was going to rip my arms out of their sockets.
Today when I left we got about 2” of snow from this latest storm. That area is dieing for snow its really bad.
I am going to be up that way after this weekend until Christmas. If anybody wants get together and ride, not just Georgia but something down that way. I have never ridden with anyone, seems like a good time to start.
Oh and if you do ride it soon, watch out for the HUGE grave just past the cabin
