Gen 2 550 Supersport Questions

Hey, looking at a nice 99 Indy 550 for the kids. Short tracker with a paddle track. Low miles good condition, newer Poo plastic skis.
The gen 2s that I'm familiar with are mostly bigger Rmks. Got a lot of miles on 700 and 800s and a Xc 700
First question how easy is the steering on the 550s? Sure I can let the limiter all the way out to steer easy but it needs to turn too! Easy steering effort or not?
2nd question, aside from richening up the needle for midrange fuel, any other quirks with the 550?
Thanks

That's the only problem I have heard about.

Midrange lean issues were specific to the EDGE chassis 550 motors.

I just did a top-end on my wifes 00' 550 supersport @ 3900 miles.

She comes in @ 100lbs and she LOVEs this sled. Very easy to ride for her but
she is a trail queen:)

Run 1 size leaner on the mains from what Polaris recommends but leave th epilot and needle stock. Also run this motor @ 7200-7400 RPM.
