Carb experts needed, Please!: 700 VES Set-up

Not sure of the actual ratings, but of the XC's , I got the impression that the 01.5 and 02 were the strongest.
For 03, they came with a revised, more advanced (but not as hot?) ignition, and a smaller air box.

So maybe I should run the 02 ignition and just experiment with timing advance and the SLP intake set-up to gain back maybe some of what the airbox may be costing me.

As a side note; I got it running today and after all the initial break-in stuff, I took it for a short ride. I never got over 1/2 throttle but it seemed to run OK with the 01 carbs. I used 35 pilots, fuel screw 1.5 turns and 430 mains, It was 30 deg here today.

I am going to be puting the 03 800 carbs on. The carbs currently have 460 mains, 135 starter and 40 pilots. A 03 700 should have 440 mains, 45 pilots and 145 starters. All for an XC calibration. The older carbs (01-02) used the same Mains and smaller Pilots (2 sizes) between the 700 and 800.

Which way should I start off?

I plan on using the factory settings for the Fuel and Air screws.
