Gearing for ARO 3

Tried out the 16 over 18 combo on my ARO 3 450fx husky.
I think I like it better, 2nd is very usable in the deep stuff.
Im riding hi altitude and used to struggle to make hills in 2nd20230225_100256.jpg

I'm running the same setup as above. 2019 Husky FX450 and 2020 ARO3 with 16/18 in the chaincase. Normal 13/17 setup. Most of my riding is 8-10k.

I rode it a few rides with 17/18 in the chain case and first was too tall sometimes. If you were really chewing at low ground speed or trying to get going in deep snow, 1st gear WFO would sometimes just bog down. Swapped to the 16 and now it will always pull thru and rev out. Much better for me.

Anyone running the 12T front, is it hard on the TS chain slider? I wouldn't be opposed to trying both setups for comparison.

Surprised that you can bog down in first gear.
I could tractor through anything in first, it was second that would occasionally not pull it.
Find myself having to shift at less than ideal times. Sometimes finding neutral instead of first.
I really like the 16/18 combo

I am riding mostly 8-10k elevation and my bike does have 200 hours on it. Going to put a piston in after this season but seems to run great.

We also have some really deep sugary snow. When I say it would bog/pull down, I'm talking like when your leaving a 3 or 4 ft trench. I want to be able to just about hit the rev limiter in that scenario, which it will do with the 16. With the 17 it was like you could only pull like 5-7k RPM.

Anybody know if its possible to change the scondary gearing on a Gen2 with QDT? I can't find any different pulley on the timbersled site. I just did first ride on one on a 300 and definitly needs to gear down. Im running a 13/17 for the primary.

We run 13/18 primary work well on our 450s
