Gearing down question?

I have a XP163 and just put in a 19 top gear bottom is 49. My question is my gear ratio is now 2.57. Last year my XRS 159 was 19/45 2.36. So how will thay compare because of the track pitches XP 2.86 XRS 2.52?

ok ! the first thing everyone should start by doing is stop comparing there 08 to a 07! its not the same sled! motors are but the rest is all new, the track is lighter, different pitch, clutches, etc. as for gearing/ its just a band aid for the poor set up brp put in these sleds. i did it and took it back out! hated it! lacked responce and track speed.once the new belts get here it should help out a lot, but clutches still need to be set up better for the mountains!!theres no dout in my mind once these sleds get proper set up, no ones going to beat you (stock for stock)

I think they are 21/49.

I agree I think mine had more jump with 21 than the 19

way to confuse a guy reading this stuff. Is the 21 better than the 19? Is it better just to spend the money on the Dynamo or Team clutch? The sled's handling to me is awesome. Love the sled for handling. Need to get the power to the track without blowing belts. What is the best set-up? Who knows? BRP doesn't.

I know its is a different chassis I didn't ask your opinion. I put the team secondary kit on it. I just want to know how to figure the ratio because of track pitch.

you posted a ???? so you asked for everyones opinion!

he gave you his. the track is a bit lighter, the 2.86 drivers are a bit smaller then the 2.52 10 th drivers
so you have to calculate the size OD of the drivers and gear ratio X rpm

there was some threads with all the numbers and equations for this.

Install a Terra Alps Racing billit head and release that hidden power in the motor.
