I am thinking about gearing down my 09 crossfire 800 ,with a 2.25 in powerclaw and an slp pipe setup,to 55/65 or the stock M8 gears. Which do you recommend, and what modifications would be involved? Is it worth it?

what elevation? Assuming a 141?

I think that might be a little low for that track. I'd go for stock M8 gears - 57/63.

what comes in the crossfire... 60/60? 57/63 should be as low as you need. not that big of a load for the 800. it dont run fine right now? there should be no mods needed to change gearing. the skinny ball bearings come on the new gears... the cat gears do anyway. not sure about aftermarket. should be a simple swap. just the input shaft bearing will be reused. it should tap out of the case.
