gearing changes for best performance

Today I added a reverse kit to my 2001 800 mxz 151" track. The kit came with a 19 tooth top gear and a 43 tooth bottom gear. Aprox 2.3:1 gear ratio. I removed a 25 tooth top gear and a 44 tooth bottom gear. Aprox 1.7:1 gear ratio. This is my first season with a longtrack sled, and I am planning a trip into the hills to do some playing. So, my question is, is my new gear ratio better or worse for the deep snow and hills? What gear ratio is best for hill climbing? What gear ratio is best for racing? What do the mountain riders on this forum gear thier sleds for?
Thanks in advance for the input.

You have a good ratio for climbing. Less top speed, but better track speed(important for climbing)

You are going to be pretty close with 19/43. If I remember right you have 9 tooth drivers. My 02 700 Summit was about the same sled. I was running a 19/43 in it.
I don't know what primary spring your sled came with but you may want to change the spring to a 160-290 or even 160-320. If you can, buy some hollow pins for your clutch. You are going to have to much weight in them when you get to the hills.
Secondary spring is Purple, 44 helix

Hope this helps.
