gearing apex turbo

just got 07 attac gt mcx rear mount turbo 12lbs 260 hp 162 track still has stock gears 23/38 7 tooth drivers will this ratio work for mountains or should i put stock apex 20/40? can anybody help a bro out keep in mind i want to keep reverse so options are limited

The apex mt runs 20/40 with a 68link chain, you have a 70L. You will need to change both gears & chain. Read in another post you have a 162, that would likely be your best bet to regear like a apex mt is. Maybe it will work fine with what you have, but I bet the belt will be happier if you geared it lower. I run 21/42 in my TRX1 with a 162/16/2.5 with the 7t avid drivers, which is the same ratio as the apex is. The RX1 used to run 21 top & 70L chain.

Yes but not that tall!! try at least to get down to 1.90 or better.
