Gearing 07 m1000

Anyone have any ideas on what would be a good choice for the 07 m1000? i was thinking about putting the 57/63 gearing in it this year with a power claw track. And any ideas on some company's that make gears? Thanks!!

Check the cat forum, hundreds of threads on gearing. The only company I know of for gears is BDX.

Gearing down is a great way to FEEL like you got a gain in power & also a good way to lose track speed imo. I tried it last year to see if I was incorrect about that... and those gears will be coming back out.

I went to 57/63 in a bdx pro lite drive on my 07 M1000. I wish I would've went with 55/65. This sled has a 162 track and I only ride it on the deepest fluffiest days. backcountryislife, are you reffering to your 141? I'm assuming that's a very strong running sled and with that shorter track you can probably benefit from higher gearing. On my M8 with a 141 I tried the 60/60 setup and was not happy with it. MonroeC, what length track are you running and how stock is your sled? Seeing you're in Oregon, I would believe you would benefit from gearing down with your heavier snow. Just my opinion though.

thanks for the info guys, it's a 162. and it just feels like it bogs alot in the low end.

Sounds like you need to do some clutching to me.

I also agree with Backcountry on this one.

Now I haven't messed around with the gearing on my M1000. But back in the day when we had chain cases and gears we messed with different gearing all the time.

Bottom line was if you want track speed you had to gear it up. (Of course you have to get the clutching to match)

Think about it. how much track speed will you get if you are in second gear all the time? If you gear up you may need to tweak your clutching to match but you want to hit your top gear and spin the track.

IMO leave it alone and get your clutching dialed in.

I see you you have the 07 M1000. Do some digging here on SW and find the threads about installing the extra motor mounts and push stops. This will help you out down the road.
