I have an 03 dodge cummins with 70k miles on it. Thinking about the Gear venders overdrive kit.. Drop the rpm and pickup some mileage?? Does anybody have any experience with these kits? Do they work good with the stock auto tranny? I pull a 31ft x8.5 vnose stealth trailer.. Trailer weighs 4500lbs then add 5 sleds and gear.. The cummins has plenty of power, Just looking to drop the rpms a little...Stock gearing is 3.73.. Any input?

They work great and get fantastic reviews, but if you are running a programmer they won't handle the additional power and torque of the bigger tunes.

it will never pay for itself.

the cr 5.9's do best at 2000 rpm, below that they arent happy. you would be better ditching the hy9 and getting something that flows better and moves more air. also advancing the timing with a smarty or tst will net you better mpgs, as long as you keep your foot out of it!

Too much maintenance( Change fluid~5000mi) for them I looked into it. Cannot use exhaust brake. Just waiting to figure out if I want to drop the coin on Allison 6 spd. A lot of work but love this truck.
