It's not over till someone puts a bullet in Winter, so the crew had to head out for the last ride at GC on Memorial Day. Pretty awesome day, sun, fun, and we had the whole joint to ourselves. Just how I like it. Pretty sure some dudes lost their shirts. Snowline was a lot higher than last years Memorial day session, we unloaded up at the corner where National Forest Rd. 136 breaks off.
I was a little wary, hoping this wasn't gonna be a dirt ride to no where.
Only had one bad stretch of dirt, maybe 1000 yards or so, broke out the lux bottle for a little hyfax lube.
Up at the tower, you could see halfway across the state. Unbelievable views, I'm not sure if I've ever been able to see that far. Coverage was still decent, although you had to be on it, stumps and trees were poking out of every nook and cranny.
Had to break out the boards for one last run before we blew the sucker up.
Baker lake took on a marvelous shade of blue. I egged Lushbomb to try to cross it, but he didn't fall for it.
Headmonkey went for a little roll down at Baker lake, ended up with some flesh wounds after his sled rolled over him, but managed to shake it off and climb out like a champ. (Only his 3rd time out on a sled)
Back to Monster bowl for a few more rides up the GUNCH and the GC season was brought to a close.
Time to blow this sucker up.
Guess my sled really wanted to get stuck one last time, so I proceeded to take one "last shortcut" on the way out and managed to break through some pack and ended up in a creek. I did a sweet flip onto the bank and then laughed hysterically for the next 5 minutes. What was scary was the first section I broke out the left Lushbomb stranded behind me. I didn't even notice it gave way..
Great day. Season is cooked for me. Time to go ride dirt bikes.
