Gas programmer/tuner

I found a couple of older threads on the topic but it seams like there have been some real advances lately in the gas tuner market. There are all kinds out there but was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with the edge evo or the gryphon, they seam to be the most popular now. I have an 08 F150 (5.4) completely stock, I was thinkin one of these two might give the ol girl a little more pep and pulling power. Any input on positive or negative experience would be appreciated!

(btw, im not realy interested in any intake or exhaust at this point, I had that stuff on my older truck and I kinda like the quiet, reliable, stock stuff.)

Gas tuning your not going to notice much difference espically if you dont do anything to the intake or exhaust, if the engine can breath and exhaust better your going to generate more power. I'm looking for a tuner as well, but I did and intake and exhaust on a 09 5.3 gmc and that made a noticeable difference in torque, fuel milage is better as well.

i sell lots of tuners, chips, intakes, exhausts, and things of that sort. i install a lot as well. i try and get reports back from my customers as much as i can. your ford 5.4 will gain some with the edge evo, its by far the most common thing i sell for that vehicle. if you are going to do a tuner i would at least drop in some kind of high flow air filter with it to make it worth your while.

as for the gm 5.3 my wife has one in her yukon, i have tried tons of different things in that, best thing i have found for a tuner is a superchip flashpaq, works well with it. i also found that a throttle body spacer and a high flow air filter setup get some good fuel economy results (about 1.1 to 1.5 MPG with those two parts)

if you guys are interested in any parts or just want to ask questions im more than willing to help ya out with what i know.
thanks

What kind of prices are we looking at doing a 5.3? I'm looking for a little more power out of a 07 Avalanche with a 5.3 on it. Exhaust, chip, intake? I wouldn't mind changing a few shift points either. Are the dealers as hard on the gassers for warranty work with a chip and exhaust as they are on the diesels?

seams like the programmers are going for $400-$500 for the edge or gryphon, the gryphon can be custom tuned by their professional programmer for your particular vehicle. I didnt really want to do anything else to it. I like the stock quiet exhaust, and i had a K and N intake on my old truck and it caused the mas air flow sensor to fail. As far as warranties go it sounds like it depends on your dealer, but legally they have to prove that your aftermarket parts directly caused and failure to void it.

I was curious to see if anyone had done one of these tunes with a completely stock truck, to see if the gains are worth the money.

I use an SCT X3 with custom tunes on my 08 F250 5.4L

I got the tunner from Mike at 5 Star Tunning.

The regular octane tune did help a little for power, but it makes a huge difference in the driveability through drive by wire changes (gas sensitivity, shift points ect . . .)

The Premium Tune has a noticable increase in power.

The Economy Tune gave me 1-2mpg savings and pretty much feels like stock.

I did a ton of research before going this route and am 100% happy with it.
