I have a 02 mt cat 800 efi 144 I recently bought as new old stock I have rode it a few times and now has 200 miles on it, every time I ride I come home smelling like gas bad , it leaking out the cap or the gas gauge. obviously it leaks worse when full. Is this a common problem. the dealer said I couldnt order the grommet for the gauge so I had to buy the whole gauge almost 60 bucks, it hasnt arrived yet. I would be grateful for any help , I am new to sledding. I also bought a 2010 m8 snopro 153 last friday and it dont leak.

probably your overflow, its on the clutch side under the plastic cover, mine leaks out of there when its full just a thought not sure

Also check the filler neck. My King had a crack right near the base (where the plastic goes from the clear tank to the black neck). It was difficult to see with the cap off, but when you tightened it up it pulled the crack apart and soaked me pretty good, especially when the tank was full.

Check the fuel guage too mine just starting leaking today. Soaked my riding gear but I did get a good buzz on the way home:D

and its awesome how the seat and tank are one piece...stupid

Yeah, but the 1m seat is a pretty easy mod...just cut the seat base off the old tank, leaving a flange to put some small bolts at the back of the tank, slip the front of the 1M seat under that flange and install the pins in the tunnel at the back. Takes a little trial and error to leave the right amount for that flange to get the seat to fit the tank, but just trial fit and cut a little until you get the fit you want.

Lots of used seat base/tanks out there for replacement, and I think RV sports has new ones on sale ($70?)
