Here's some sneak peaks of the Prototype C3 2013 update kit for the belt drive.

Kit will include top and bottom pulleys (ratio of choice), Gates Carbon GT belt, Tensioner assembly.

NO other pics or other details are available at this time.

See, why couldn't polaris do that from the factory?? Looks very nice and simple! No drilling either, looks like it just uses the existing mounting holes. Now hopefully it is priced decently!

looks good and pretty simple. a ratio choice will be a nice bonus. would like to see some type of guard covering to bottom pulley to keep snow and ice away from the belt.

So I like it but do you loose your brakes if the adjuster comes loose?

I'm not knocking this product, it looks great... But I wonder how many failures we would see if 10000 of these units were being used?

Maybe 1. The tensioner makes all the difference. The belt is wrapped around the machined(not cast) pulleys so there is double the number of cogs engaged. The tensioner is burly, if you an tighten a bolt I don't think it will ever come loose. Maybe put a wrench on it once in a while to check it. Thanks C3. If I have belt problems I will be buying one. I might have to buy one just to dump the Pro at the end of the year. I have a feeling resale is going to suck on the 13 Pros.

Lets say C3 sells 10000 (My guess of the number of new pros sold this year) of these systems in the off season this year and they are all put into service when the snow flies. (kinda like the 2013 pro and the QD system this year) Out of these 10000 units there IS going to be bad belts, out of true pulleys (although much better than the cast polaris ones), driveshafts with excessive runout, bad jackshaft bearings, incorrect installs and abuse/neglect from the riders. Now lets say by this time next year they've had maybe 200 failures and out of them 20 get posted on snowest with pics... What do you think C3's reputation would be on this site??? Not very good I bet and in no way would it be deserved.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that things get blown way out of proportion on this site and people start jumping to conclusions. Kinda like you. You haven't had a problem with the QD system but you say you might have to buy an aftermarket system just to be able to sell your 13:face-icon-small-con

I also think the factory does not want riders to be able to play with belt tension. The ideal factory system would have a spring tensioner with a one way ratchet so it can tighten but not loosen. It would be like an automatic timing chain tensioner.

rms is AMAZES me that there are guys like you who think this belt issue(and driveshaft issue) are minor problems. Is there really anyone who rides with 4-5-6 Pros who hasn't seen either a driveshaft or belt failure in person ? I look back at posts on this problem from November and it's the same thing. Minor problem, 2% on the snow, Poo will fix it etc. My dealer had 8 failures before I picked up my sled. She got me a 12 shaft with Avids(which I paid for) because she didn't want me to get stuck in the hills. I had to spend money on a sled just so I could get home, lol. Poo being Poo won't even pay fora track that gets destroyed when there admitted mistake fails. This is all 2-3 months into the season, what's going to play out over the next 3-4 years? And now let's talk about pistons and cylinder skirts, and the TPS lol. This cluster was probably put in to take the focus off their crap engines. So let's talk next year and see if my pessimisim or your obtimissim was correct...

First thing I did was put a steel shaft in but that was when it was an issue, now with the collars it's a non issue. As far as the belt drive goes I first hand know of one, I also know of one chaincase that blew too (leftover 12). Guess what one had less down time.

I also put a steel shaft in before the collar release and haven't had a issue.
I have seen one QD belt down and have gone on 11 rides and every time I see quite a few 13's without issue. My friend has a 13 Pro with clamp and no issues. Our dealers have seen a few but not big numbers.

I think all sleds have a few issues wether it's related to manufacturing defects or bad design. Just part of the game. Happens with cars, bikes, sleds, planes, etc.

Back on topic, Looks like a nice product!

Yes it looks like a very nice product. BUT... 1100 dollars for two pulleys a tensioner and a belt?!?!? WTF That is a highly overpriced system. Albeit everyone with a failure is probably gonna pay it to have a system that works.

Now why doesnt someone just machine a tensioner bracket and pulley that will fit on the stock system?

If they could sell thousands I'd bet the price could be about 1/3 of what it is with low volume....problem is, is this being marketed as a fix kit or something that could replace the chain case too? If a fix-only they will only sell a handful of them until Polaris makes some improvements.
It still doesn't address the heat issue the turbo guys are seeing...300 degree belts. lol
