My Sled is an 09 dragon.

I was going to do a FXT drop and roll. I had a couple people tell me they regretted it......(changed their balance for the worst). I wanted to run a camo extreme 2.5" with the stock drivers.

I've also come to the conclussion it's difficult to run the camo extreme 2.5" in a complete stock setup. :(

So please share your reults here for the FXT D&R. Need the straight truth on this D&R.

Thank you.

I've heard the same about the change of balance from some very knowledgeable people. As for the CE 2.5 being difficult, no it isn't. I have the Peak 2.5 in my 09 155" RMK - works just fine. Get the CE track, and keep it adjusted close to Poo specifications and you'll be fine with stock drivers.

There is an alternative though, Carl's Cycle sells a drop kit that will only lower your jack & drive shafts 5/8". It does not move/roll anything back. Cost is like 250 if I remember right.

I ran Curt's kit on my dragon 163..worked great with no handling issues..but you need to spend the time setting up both ends of the suspension..both the frt end and the rear skid need to be set to curt's specs to get the best handling(I ran both a holz skid and a holz frt end on my dragon as well as custom skid mnts which allowed me lots of adjustment)with that said, the D&R will only be a noticable difference on the deep days...in less then 2 ft of fresh a non D&R sled with all else being equal will perform right with a D&R sled..the difference becomes more and more noticable the deeper the snow gets...once you get in 3 ft. plus of champayne powder..the D&R sled will dominate over the non D&R sled..just what we found over the years....

carl's is(was) selling the holz kit..which I dont think is available any more..a quick call to mark(at holz) would verify that though.....

FTX Drop & Roll

My sled's drop and roll was done with a Timbersled Mountain Tamer suspension and used custom rear drop brackets.

We used air tools, cleckos & clecko tool for holding the metal in place then used Lords structual adheasive & rivets for final finish. A second set of hand is a must IMO.

Was stuck once last year in waist deep snow.. the sled really tractors well in powder deep snow

Overall if you will use the sled for a full season or two in early/deep powder and have the tools and time it is worth it IMO.

i have the FTX drop n roll with the CE 2.5. the difference between the track change and the drop n roll over stock are HUGE! not even comparable to the stock comp track w/o drop n roll.

for me there was no noticeable difference in the handling. they sled just goes a lot better....and the deeper it gets the bigger the difference between stock gets!!

then this year i added the 2012 mt tamer and the trio is sick!

the sled is for sale and in the swapmeet i have a couple pics of the drop n roll along with the track clearance...
