fx nytro skid plate snow build up issue

Does anyone have any information on what is being done about the Yamaha skid plate getting so much snow/ice built up between it and the stock belly pan that the skid plate pulls the mounts out?

I have busted 2 skid plates already this season and now I am having issues with my dealer regarding fixing it...

I know there were a couple of threads on here and TY4stroke but I CANT find them for the life of me... Does anyone have the links or some info I can point this service manager at? ( I have the yami hotline # already thx)

One thing that I have thought of is to put some closed cell foam inbetween the skid plate and the stock one, basically fill up the structural ribs with it. I think the water goes into these ribs, then freezes and that is what breaks it. The foam would do two things, reduce the area that the snow and water could get into, and allow for a little compression instead of the plate moving.

It is best to cover up the vents on the sled with a snow proof pre-filter, as the water comes from somewhere, and is the start of the problem.

I haven't tried it yet, but it is on the list of things to do.

Just make sure to use closed cell foam, not the open stuff (which will absorb the water).
