Fussy RER

I have an 04 800 rev. The RER started acting up and only worked every 3-4 pushes.
Then it seemed to quit working all together.

So I hit the kill switch and right before the engine died, I hit the RER and let off the kill. It kicked right into reverse! Had to the same thing going out of reverse also.

I found it hard to time the kill switch and the RER, so I thought maybe it's the low RPM's letting it work. It idles right around 2k warmed up, so I used the the choke to slow the engine down to under 1000 rpms, and it works every time.

This works consistently, but it's not the right way. Anyone have a fix for this?

Most of the time it's because the belt deflection is a little too tight...loosen it a little and see if that helps.

I will try it, but would not a tight belt cause it to die completely?

Or could it keep it from even trying to shut down for the restart?

It has no trouble restarting once the mode kicks in, it just doesn't like to shut down until the rpms drop below 500.

I can't recall how the machines acted.....but crank seal have caused fits for guys with RER since it came out. No oil under your clutch cover is there?

Idle was fine even at 2k.

The problem was the relay.

I replaced it and the problem went away!

Just to test the idle theory, I set it to 3000rpms, and the RER still works just fine.

I understand that you have yours fixed now, but a higher idle has never shown to be a problem on ours. But too low is a problem.

Also - off camber it wants to start back up fwd still. Not sure what the camber had to doo with it? But we dug it out and leveled it off and went ratt into rev.
