funny noise what do you think??

Ok, when just cruisin, i hear a noise, its hard to explain, but ill try, rpm level off and i hear a little popping like a blow of valve, no turbo and it doesnt sound like air just a comparison, if i let off the gas it goes away, if i get on the gas it goes away, kinda sounds like a two stage on a drag car, nothing seems to be wrong, just really dont have a clue what the sound is,

Its on a 05 summit 800 151 with a snow stuff can

Check the primary clutch bolt. My rev was making funny noises and i couldn't figure it out till my clutch exploded.

what parts do i need to check on the primary, ok dumb ?, but what do you mean ring gear? I ve been on sleds along time but never work on then, I dont know anything about the clutches, but if you can tell me what bolts to check ill check um!

I don't know much about mechanics but could it be an exhaust leak? Check exhaust manifold gaskets?

I thought the same, but cant find any evidence of a leak, and doesnt do it under power, only if you are at a cruising speed, if you let off it stops if you gas it, it stops, it very well just could be the can, just not sure, i went out and checked all the clutch bolts and found nothing loose, but when i stin over the motor by hand i can here the wieghts, falling, i assume thats normal, they arent rolling around in there though, just hear them moving.

also, i guess i figured out some of the clutch stuff talk about earlier, the ring on the clutch is set on 2, and my belt runs about a eighth to a quarter down inside of it, i will have one of my kids look at the numbers, i cant see them that well, compared to the motor side pulley the belt seems pretty small, its prob a big quarter to a half from the shethes

Ring gear is on the primary clutch if Electric start is installed. Main bolt on the primary may be loose, check tightness. Does the belt have any strings hanging off of it? Otherwise my money is on the pipe/can area.

I did spin the belt around, found nothing, it does have e start, i didnt check the main bolt yet, i didnt have a big enough wrench, I agree with the pipe can area, just cant pin point it, thats the bad part, it sucks to have a rattle or noise you cant find, drives me batty!!

Ill start checking all the nuts and bolts!!

So from what mloc has put up on the board it sounds to me like a RAVE valve that is wide open and functioning normally. But I have been known to be wrong as well

that was my first thought, but didnt know if it was normal, cant say if ive ever heard it on my sea doo, its the only other thing i have with rave valve, it does sound like its releasing pressure, do raves make that sort of noise? And with the word normal in there im guessing so

Mloc, turn it in all of the way do the same ride and see if it goes away, count how many turns it took to go in the back it off the same amount and try again. I have always run my valves in a more open position since my 97 summit so it to me sounds like a RAVE. Kind of a baffle sound? Probably would not hear on seadoo since its under a seat and exhaust exits behind you.

yes thats the sound, ill try it, i didnt know they were ajustable, i assume you just remove the cap and turn them?
