I decided to rebuild the fuel pump on my 04 800 edge. When I took the top plate off the pump I found that the gaskets that sandwich the diaphram didn't line up.
The two gaskets have a piece running down the middle of them, that when sandwiched together, and oriented to the pump properly, separate the two chambers in the top portion of the pump. One of my gaskets was rotated one hole, so that when the pump was put together, the runner down the middle of the gasket was sitting crosswise across the two chambers.
I put it back together with the center runners of the gaskets both laying on top of the ridge that separates the two chambers. Was this the right way to assemble them, or is one of the runners supposed to be crosswise across the chambers?
