Fuel Pressure Question

Could adding oil to the fuel tank at a rate of say 80/1 lube the fuel pump enough to have it create more pressure. Lets say your fuel pump runs at 52psi could it run 54psi with a little added oil? This may be a stupid question but it kept me up an hour in bed last night thinking about how I could disprove it.

No, But it would lean out the a/f fuel mixture slightly. The regulator is what controls pressure, not the pump output.

Maybe, If you pump was on it way out. I personnally witnessed my sled throwing low voltage codes. This was running 100LL. I added a few ounces of oil to the tank, and within 10-15 seconds the light went away and as long as I kept adding oil to gas the light didn't come back. I was somewhat unbelievable(Iwouldn't believe it if I wasn't there).

He said his light went out not that he observed an increase in pressure though.

The light was probably caused but the pump drawing too many amps. Somehow adding lube to the fuel lowered the amp draw turning the light off. I think a bad pump is likely to cause too much draw and maybe low pressure if is has low voltage but the regulator still controls maximum pressure to the fuel rail, not the pump. The pump can only make less than the regulator, not more
